Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Erectile Dysfunction - going first through your GP or directly to a specialist

    Hello all

I have above mentioned problem and want to get it fixed (I believe it is mainly due to performance anxiety / psychological).

Do I go first to my GP (I don't have much of a medical history with my GP though am embarressed a bit to go directly to him for that) and get a referral at some point or should I go directly to a specialist (found a Men’s Health Clinic in Fitzwilliam Place).

I have health insurance through Irish Life Health - anyone an idea if they will cover consulting costs/treatments if I go directly to the specialist?

    Thanks!

To see most specialists in Ireland you need a GP letter first. I'd be a little wary of that place, purely on the basis that there's no mention of their medical staff/qualifications on their website. That's not to say there's anything wrong with the place, but they seem to cover a weird mixture of things.

If you're embarrassed to talk to your normal GP about it, you could always try a different one that you won't necessarily see again? As with all these things, there's no reason to be embarrassed to go to your regular GP.

Health insurance really depends on your exact policy - many pay x% of consultant visits, after you've reached an annual amount. For example, you might find the first visit isn't covered under the excess, but any subsequent visits (even to a different consultant) would be.

Irish Life Health do a Digital Docotor service which is included on all plans: http://www.irishlifehealth.ie/digital-doctor/

Might be worth giving that a try if you're nervous about attending your own GP.
