I teared up at the part where
Joel told Ellie the truth about the Fireflies outside the hospital, after Ellie broke down.
    .

Got me there too. A number of moments did.
@ the museum as he watched her in the shuttle all proud as punch Dad like.
Also when Joel told Ellie if he had to do it again he'd do it all the same...and hearing him choke up saying "Yep" in response to Ellie's "I'll see you around" in the last flashback.
Man, I was just overall gutted for Ellie. She lost everything. Herself, Joel, Jessie, Dina ,JJ, her mom's switchblade, her ability to play guitar/ her connection to Joel. She's alone. It was her greatest fear from tlou...but I choose to believe she's making her way back to Jackson.

F*ck, yeah I forgot she said that in the original. That just makes
    the ending more heart wrenching

I absolutely loved that museum flashback, shows what a close relationship they before it went to shyte. "I'm on a motherfúcking dinosaur!" and of course Ellie imagining her going into space were my favourite parts. Some people hate how Joel's death occured so early, but imo it gave those flashback scenes with him and Ellie even more weight.

Regarding the very end, I've heard a take since that suggests Ellie may be going back to Dina for forgiveness: the fact that the last flashback was Ellie effectively telling Joel that she would forgive him (even if it may take time) before Ellie sets off from the farm, may suggest that Ellie would go back to Dina. Because if she was capable of forgiving Joel for what he did, then perhaps Dina would eventually be able to forgive Ellie for walking away from them. It's definitely all up for interpretation, but I thought that was an interesting theory if you wanted to look at it a bit more positively!

That last flashback with Joel and Ellie after the dance kinda got me, with Joel choking up - up to that point, you were left thinking that he died on really bad terms with Ellie, with her last words to him effectively telling him to get lost, and that she doesn't need him. But at least they had that last moment together as a bit more positive, even though it didn't last long :(

Jesus, the subreddit for this game (r/TheLastOfUs2) is just a cesspit of negative crap. You can't post anything you like about the game without being slagged off or downvoted, it's very toxic.

I posted a really nice image that I edited in photoshop and I got an instant downvote within 5 minutes. Yeah, I know, I'm probably overly annoyed at it - call it a trivial annoyance, but it's still an annoyance nonetheless, the sub is hijacked by people who hate the game.

(EDIT: The Subreddit for The Last of Us is much more friendly (r/TheLastOfUs), I didn't know you were allowed to post TLOU2 topics in there).

The facial animations are obviously incredible but that bit with the mirror gave me serious uncanny valley vibes.

Just finished A Seattle Day 1, Jesus that was long but absolutely brilliant. 17 hours so far.
Abby is such a class character. Dunno how ND could make me like a character that was introduced how she was, must be good writing I guess but let's see where this goes

What do people make of the film grain? Wish there was an option to turn it off.

I must be about five hours behind you Zero. The only time I encountered Abby so far was when she was beating Joel to death with the golf club and delivering the fatal blow. Some face on her though, it would turn milk sour.

Problem is there is no balance. One is full of hate. The other is full of sycophants.

Anything reasonable gets absolutely downvote slammed in both places. They don't do nuance or middleground.

Yupp, every time i boot up the game, it's very apparent. I think you could turn it off in the first game?

What is the complete **** about killing a dog. It's a game. Get over it

  • For anyone looking for something different gameplay wise during a replay of the game.
Did not know slow-mo was an option but looks awesome.

I would not click the video if you have not completed the game due to the YouTube comments so be warned.

Yeah it's so heavy. It often looks like I'm playing Silent Hill 2.

Well from what I've seen the TLOU2 subreddit is more toxic.

Ok I'm around 14 hours in and just back finished Seattle Day 3. I tried not to spoil myself before playing the game but have I got to the parts I'm meant to be outrage about??
Are people upset over Ellie killing a pregnant woman??
I figure that I'll be playing as Abby for a while now(this was spoiled for me fwiw). Maybe up to the point where she shoots Jesse. I really like Dina, I felt nothing when Jesse died as I think Ellie didn't spend enough time with him, that for me is key in The Last of Us. You get an attachment the longer you hang around characters. My only criticism so far is that flashback when Joel told Ellie what really happened at the end of the first game, that scene ended too soon. I assume there will be another flashback but I think the gap will have been too long between them.
The scars are a real challenge as they seem quite aggressive compared to the WLF. Maybe that's just me.

People are annoyed for a whole host of reasons but the issue mainly is you can't keep everyone happy and unhappy people are a lot louder than happy ones.

I am coming close to the 30 hour mark , making very slow progress but honestly I am having a hard time trying to find the will to keep playing and finishing the game.

Outside of the incredibly written characters and how well written the story was in the first game I did not like The Last Of Us part 1.
So its partially my fault thinking the Last Of Us part 2 would be any different .

Whatever about the overblown controversy about the story telling , the gameplay to me has overstayed its welcome a long time ago with just how repetitive it is . Each section of the game feels like the last , and the environments while gorgeous are really starting to blend in with each other and become very uninteresting to explore .

I bought into the hype thinking this was a game was about diving deep into the mind of Ellie while its was advertised as this ultra violent , unsettling videogame that was suppose to be very heavy on the heart. Maybe I am just dead inside with no feelings but I dont see nor feel any sense of uneasiness playing this game.

Overall if I were to score it now it would be about a 6/10 .

There is a lot of unhappy people though, myself included. I'm a casual fan of the first game (not really into action-rpg's so the gameplay isn't a pulling factor), and when I heard of the overwhelming bad reviews I started following the walkthrough's to see if I'd like it.

I read that the creator didn't want us to like the game. I'm no genius but me not liking the game (or story in my case) mean's it's a bad game. Can't for the life of me understand why he decided to take the route he did. The story doesn't add up logically, and it's co main character is utterly dislikable.

Each to there own. I can respect the developers wanted to take a risk here, but I'm disappointed in it.

It's done in a hamfisted way. I'm starting Seattle Day 3...
Ellie has a crisis of conscience after beating the info out of Nora but before and after that I've punctured about 50 necks as Ellie whispers "Eat Shít" to the person as they bleed out. This isn't a "deep" game.

That was the scene I was really anticipating the most to see. What an absolute letdown :(

Haven’t played through the original game since release so my memory could be wrong here, but definitely recall the first being more varied in terms of locations. I fully get why so much of the game is set in Seattle, but it’s a long old game and there are a lot of long stretches of wandering around, scavenging in ruined shops or offices, and having enemy encounters in such spaces. ND try to a certain degree to make each shop feel unique (a few too many coffee shops aside!) but yeah definitely feel the creative restrictions of being largely stuck in a single city for the core gameplay. There are different sections, but 17 hours in or so it feels like I’ve spent at least half of that on similar Seattle city streets.

Oddly though I think the game *overall* feels well paced, as the flashbacks allow different types of locations and tones to liven things up. It’s more with the core gameplay loop of ‘explore, scavenge, fight’ that I feel could use that bit of extra variety in locations beyond urban decay.

That flashback after informs the player that Ellie knew Joel lied to her.
It wasn't a crisis of conscience about beating Nora it was more that she was being reminded that Joel was killed by ex-Fireflies because he rescued Ellie at the end of the first game and then lied to her that there was others immune. There is a reason Nora notices she can breath without the mask so she immediately knows who Ellie is. If Joel had left her in the lab maybe the virus would be cured by now and Joel would still be alive. As explained in the flashback immediately after she hated that Joel sacrificed her for the rest of humanity.

oh I totally agree, I fc**ing hate the direction it went but the reality is a lot of people like it too.
Until there's a three and a happy ending I'm treating it like the Godfather III and pretending it never happened.

Finally finished. 30hrs but it felt like more. The second half just became an awful slog.

Less of a ****e could I give about Owen, Manny or the rest of them. At one point it felt like I was watching Emmerdale. And the whole scar sideplot was such filler. A poor imitation of the first game and as I suspected, at the end of the day it boiled down to gore porn and shock value disguised as "story".

TBH the whole thing was fairly dull and I'm glad to be done with it.

My only issue is that you stay in crouch after R1 listening.

Also, maybe it's just me, but sometimes looks like the runners are fighting the infection or the infection is taking longer to take hold. Could be it's that they're a lot screeching than before.

Do you feel you're experience was somewhat hindered by the nonsense of the last 2/3 months?

I'm twenty hours in and without going into spoilers I'm on the "other side" of the story now. Do I think it's the perfect game no but I really love it. I really can't see what people are going on about with the boring combat or samey landscape variety in this. It's the last of us not Arkham city or horizon...what did people expect? I was shocked at elements in the story but I find it funny how people look at the ending of the first one. I definitely would have done what Joel did although probably without killing anyone if that was possible.

The story, graphics and design all have me hooked but I am a sucker for naughtydog games so their template obviously appeals to me.

I'm still not finished the but so far 9/10 for me. Why oh why didn't they include multiplayer with this I loved the multiplayer on the first game

No. I don't pay any mind to that stuff and can't understand anyone who does.

THIS. Who thought that would be a good idea?

I expected TLOU. I expected more like the scene with the birthday trip to the museum. That was the highlight of the entire game and we all know it.
