Opinions-Should I undertake a masters

I am in 2 minds about starting a masters degree in January. I am a civil servant and have a degree in Business, a grad diploma in Management and post grad diploma in IT. I also have a diploma in project management and a cert in PR. I am in my mid 30s and am in the same grade the last 10 years and would love to be promoted. I have 15 days annual leave to use from Jan to the end of March next. I have no family so have plenty of spare time on my hands and any masters I do would be fully refunded by my employers once I pass my exams of course. The masters I was considering where those in the IPA i.e public administration management, business and management or financial management. Why I am in 2 minds is that 1) I already have a graduate diploma in management and the subjects I undertook and completed here are on a like for like basis to the subjects covered in the 1st year of the MA in the IPA and I was thinking would it not be a waste of a year studying similar subjects again and 2) promotion in the civil service is based initially on passing an psychometric exam both at home and supervised so my CY, application form would not be been looked at until interview stage and then its all competency based. So my real query is should I bother undertaking one when at the end of the day promotion is not based on your academic qualifications in the civil service.

There's a chance you could be granted exemptions in certain subjects if you already covered them in previous courses.

I got two exemptions from modules during my masters as they were basically what I do in my job, this freed up a good bit of time and took the pressure off compared to the rest of the class.

This would possibly make the masters a bit easier and less stressful to complete?

Thanks Utah. I contacted the IPA about this and they said there are no exemptions on master programs unfortunately.
