Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are Irish customers still saddled with the Horizon box?

Technician did say there was a new box coming at some stage next year when he fixed my horizon box.
Whether it's this or not is another matter.

From what I can tell it seems Irish customers will eventually get the same box (code named "EOS") but with Horizon as the EPG instead of TiVo.

The 4K version of horizon is due to launch soon too.

I think it's likely Virgin is just panicking because Sky is aggressively pushing Sky Q and they couldn't wait for the Liberty platform to be ready and have stick with TiVo for now.

I think it's likely we're getting the horizon version as it's Liberty's own platform. They're unlikely to pay for TiVo if they don't have to.

I'm actually a bit surprised they didn't just wait though. Virgin UK must really be feeling the heat from Sky.

Seems they can swap TiVo and Horizon much more easily with new boxes though which means Virgin UK might ultimately make a platform switch too.

It appears to have been a pragmatic decision by Virgin in the U.K. to stick with TiVo based on their already installed user base. They will stick with TiVo until at least 2018 now.

The hardware being used in the UK is apparently identical to what the rest of Europe will get and they have built it so it will run both TiVo and Horizon, with the UK getting TiVo and everyone else Horizon.

Looks like their intention though is to be able to do a fast switch over if/when they want to.

What an awful looking box? Is that the finished product?

Cable company cheap and nasty "design"

Reminds me of the old Cork Multichannel Jerrold black boxes.

They clearly have given up on making them pretty
