10 inch (28cm) rack mount 24 port switch?

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I'm putting together a small home network & have a requirement for 22 ports (one in each room apart from bathrooms).

I can find a 10 inch cabinet & patch etc, but a switch is proving difficult. I'm sure they must exist, the question is where?

Not aware of anything that would be 24 port. You can pick up 10 ports like the J9777A.

The easier option would be to pick up a 2U 19 inch wall mount and a cheap fanless switch.

Also 22 room house?

Buy a cheap 5 or 8 port switch, hook up what you need. No point in wiring every connection, its a waste of money.
