Met Eireann have updated their forecast with sleet and snow in Leinster for tomorrow evening and night. They've been wrong on this so many times before, lets see what happens.

Air Pressure quite low here in West Clare! 966.5 hPa at the moment.

Rainfall only 0.8mm since midnight, but the wind had caused the weather station to become slightly lobsided so probably underestimating a little.

Floodgates along the dodder in Dublin 4 will be closed tonight.

I remember the last time it flooded in D4, the flood gates where locked (open) and no one knew where the keys where. Fire brigade had to grind them off.

Heavy rain over the Wicklow mountains at the moment, look like perfect conditions for western style relief rainfall.

I'd say it'll be blizzard conditions up there tomorrow!

all the Scandinavian weather institutions (Danish www.dmi.dk, Norwegian www.yr.no and Swedish www.smhi.se) have changed their forecasts quite a bit today and now the forecast is for the cold weather to return from the East in these countries so there might be hope for us yet. Within a few days below freezing temps are expected even during the day in Scandinavia plus some snow is now forecast.Nothing deep freeze yet but heading in the right direction with temps getting down to between minus 3 to minus 5 and a Scandi High building to get the Easterly blowing which will hopefully reach Ireland by the end of next week

I try not to ask the backyard questions, but what times are we potentially talking, to what level? Doesn't seem to be much talk, given even Joanna is ramping it!

"The rain will spread westwards on Friday evening and will turn heavy in the east with snow likely on high ground and possibly also on lower levels. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, but turning colder in the rain during the afternoon."

ECM and GFS disagreeing about the location of precip tomorrow evening too. Quite a large difference at such short range.

Obviously Met Éireann are going with ECM and HIRLAM.
