Thanks maj, and was that 5 months whilst in GV or after pass out?

After Garnerville. He still had to complete the first stage of probationer training but after that they dropped it. There's no logical sense to making someone with years of experience complete a probation

Also in the same boat as you people. In MPS a few years but the house prices are ridiculous. Anyone know where the new recruits would likely be posted? Also anyone know if the PSNI allows extra days off for army reserve training? Thanks.

Just reading through the latest Facebook post showing the stages of recruitment. Was a written test always part of the AC or is that a new addition?

Experienced something similar with PQA's for the Fire Service.

    Maj question for you.

You may not know the answer because it's new.

In the new commitment year you have to stay in your district can you still do selection for TSG, dogs etc in this year in anticipation for the commitment year ending?

Some roles no longer require you to complete the commitment period. I missed out on ARV because the date was a week before my probation period ended. A guy in the squad above me was able to apply, and was only a month into his commitment period.

Seen the SOB guys carrying out raids most recently in Carrick along side ARV crews.

Out of curiosity is SOB similar to the CTSFO on the mainland, and is it a plan clothes role until you're required for the likes of specialist raids ect; with ARV crews covering the day to day armed response?

Dog section deal with seizure of dangerous dogs as well as dogs that are obstructing searches etc?

Would love to get into motorcycling or dogs

I'm a fan of the dogs myself as I've two labs one of which is a working dog, but is a serious extra workload on top of the job itself and I hear the section in really hard to get into.

Apparently it's the accommodation criteria that gets everyone disqualed from selection for dogs

I was all set for traveling down south for a malinois when my other half beat me to it and arrived home with the second lab!

Normally when you get “the call” you give your employer 1 month notice I presume

We wont be starting GV for atleast 6 months then on top of that you habe 23 weeks in the college so your insurance will renew by then.

What is joining TSG like ? Is it competitive to get in ? Is it often advertised ? If I was lucky to join, i think this is the role id like to eventually do.

It's just as competitive as every other unit. I've seen 1 or 2 advertisements for it in the last few years
