    Loaded question Andrew...
Loads of routes but bike choice and skill level would define "good" route tbh.
The better your skills the wider range of bikes you could do it on.

What bike are you thinking about doing it on?

A fairly basic and fairly old Specialised MTB, with suspension on the front. I've done the Ticknock trails, so I can get through anything like that, not very nicely or elegantly or quickly - but I get through it. I tried the track past the three rocks of Three Rock which comes to a dead end at what seems to be fencing heading towards Glencullen, but didn't fancy pushing through the forest without some certainty of an available route.

    All suggestions welcome.

Yeah I do a good bit of it regularly, east to west is the best direction, the descent to Tibradden is fun but a very hard climb in the other direction.

Would like to give it a go; is it well signposted?

I presume so, I've been doing bits of it in spins for years, not sure if I ever looked at the signs. Just get out on your bike and explore! You'll never be very far from home if you get a bit lost.

Very like the Wicklow way as in you have the direction signs all the way,
A fair bit on the road but you can cut some of that out by going off road around the hell fire and masseys wood and the maze of laneways in Shankill is a bit of an anti climax but well worth doing all the same plus you end up in Bradys pub car park so you literally have to go for a pint......oh the food is very nice too....the only problem is leaving before you melt into the couch!

There are loads of trails leading to Glencullen,
The wicklow way one is tricky to descend and you end up on the road...

Just coming back home after doing the whole thing solo in about 11.5h. Murderous stuff, especially for someone with laughable mtb skills like myself. Off the bucket list, won't do it again on a bike for sure!

Nice one Alek that's some savage effort. How much of it was off road? I'm goin to give this a go from Clonegal - Dublin at some point over the summer. What bike did you do it on?

Some great pics there too. Is any of it, towards the beginning at least doable on a CX/Gravel bike? If I ever get an MTB this will be why, need to save for a house first apparently.

iwillhtfu - the official Wicklow Way is probably 90% offroad. I wouldn't do it south-north, as the hardest part is near Dublin and it will wreck your heart if done by the end of the spin. The bike was a hardtail MTB, Cannondale Trail SL3

Weepsie - cheers! On CX your wrists will explode before you get to Glendalough. Loads of really rough stuff in places. I guess its much more doable if you start in Clonegal and finish in Glenmalure.

I'm thinking I might bail before the really hilly stuff begins and head over to ballinastoe ;)

Savage. The lad I did it S-N with last year is thinking of doing an out and back. I can't bring myself to get excited by it.

Watch out for that friend of yours, he's mad.

After today I'm even more impressed with your attempt!

I was going to ask how the wrists were holding up...

Amazing stuff Alek , well done.

Surprisingly well. The last time I've been on the MTB, done a few loops of Ticknock trails and then couldn't use my thumbs for a week or so...
