It is not an Irish airline - it's Norwegian owned and managed.

It's got an Irish air operating certificate purely to avail of EU labour laws rather than Norwegian ones.

    Horses for courses.

The dates I'm flying to Stewart for €220 (now €270) the next cheapest is Aer Lingus for €512, I'd get into JFK at lunch time but having flown into JFK previously it was a nightmare to get into Times Sq by car. The return flight is earlier so I'd miss out on the afternoon in Manhattan.

I'd prefer to buy my own food than to have the Aer Lingus 'free' food.
I'm not bothered by a blanket, or seat selection.

Time wise I lose 5 hours by flying Stewart on first day and gain 4.5 hours on my return day. So time is comparable.

    Fly DUB-STW 4:15pm land 6.25pm Stewart
    Fly Dub-JFK 10.50am land 13.40pm JFK

    Fly Stw-DUB 21.25pm land 8.50am Dub
    Fly JFK-DUB 17.30pm land 5.00 am Dub

    Norwegian 75 hours in USA
Aer Lingus 75.4 hours in USA

JFK Air Shuttle Multiple stops to PABT $34
Stewart Air Shuttle Direct to PABT $40

Unfair comparison as you can easily take the later departure from JFK and land at a similar time.

Of course it's not in your interest to offer a fair one is it.

I don't think there was a point where it wasn't! If my suspicions are correct, I'd imagine that there's another one here too, just less vocally annoying...

Whatever that is. I know nothing about aircrafts not interested but I thought if an airline had its base in Dublin, had Irish pilots and staff and the number E1 well for me thats Irish.

I went with the top selection from SkyScanner.

No conspiracy. And what is in my interest?

If I get the later one from JFK it goes up to €527

You've clearly not flown as you've claimed, considering there's no base in Dublin, and all staff are based in the US, as well the aircraft being used on the route being registered LN-*** for the moment.

Now, I think we have established all we need about this account, think we should leave it to the mods at this stage.

    Fuel?

Not surprising, the flight is likely full (beyond 160) as it's taken many people from the Cancelled Shannon flight.

On a very basic level, I don't know how anyone could think an airline called "Norwegian" was Irish!

I dont know or care. Im just happy that I got a very cheap ticket to fly to newyork in 11 days time. Ive no interest otherwise really.

But the ticket i have is issued by Norweigan Air International and I googled them and this is the start of the articles.
No interests myself apart from travel and my 1 flight with them was great.
Ive flown many times with ryanair and the whiz air so i will let you know how this goes.

Which is Gander.....not sure what you're getting at here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,551 ✭✭✭kub

Why at the arrival airport would it say it is diverted?
Surely a fuel stop is that significant, also I cannot find that flight on FR24 so I assume it is still on the ground in Gander and I know it is Gander.

It just took off again, so yes a fuel stop, so why is saying diverted on arrivals in Providence on FR24 when it actually is not.

Because it has diverted, the flight is on the ground (confirmed by flightradar) but is scheduled for takeoff 10 minutes ago.

You can follow it on FR24 by searching on the reg LN-NIG

Now at 11,000ft out of gander.

The Cork flight did NOT divert.

Gander was a planned stop for fuel based on todays figures.

    Bonus for any avgeeks surely!

A fuel stop is not a diversion? News to me, hear it referred to that all the time.

Might have been planned but wasn't when they sold the tickets. A technicality really

Reason it's not showing up with a Norwegian search is that for some reason, it's not using IBK, someone has put it in the system as IKB1821.

And yes, a planned tech stop is not a diversion, whatever they may have on the board at PVD. Not altogether surprised, given the extra passengers at both Belfast and Cork from yesterday's Shannon cancellation.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

174 passengers on the Cork flight today.

I regularly hear of flights diverting to Shannon/Reykjavik/St.Johns/Gander for fuel in the winter. Is this bad terminology? Can anyone point me to an official definition for a diversion in aviation?
