Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had some members of my cooking club around for lunch this afternoon. Some of them are real gourmands, so I was very keen to impress. It also was an indulgent meal to wrap up the Christmas - some of which included meals that were very poor indeed.

Starter was veal croquette with prawn and microherb, and a light wild mushroom and brandy cream foam.

Main was a duck magret ballotine, foie gras lollipop, chanterelle 'ash', baby artichoke, glazed parsnip, broad bean mash.

I like my desserts to be loud and a bit 'disco' so went with a deconstructed Eton Mess with a Jameson cracker.

Whipped out a really good 2009, Beaujolais to accompany the meal. Also had petit fours, coffee and a glass of dry apple cider to cleanse the palate.

Feedback was very positive. I'm tired now.

I've just finished up dicing watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melons into a melon salad. I've a slow cooker full of chicken and vegetable soup on the go, and I've cleaned all the rubbish out of the fridge. I'll bring some of it into work tomorrow and let everyone pick at it but the rest was put out in the bin. Now I'm going to make some 12-grain bread.

I'd sick of eating crap and feeling sluggish, so it's all fresh food made from scratch for the foreseeable.

Yeah, I haven't put on weight and I've stayed pretty active and gotten plenty of exercise every day, but the bad food just makes you feel sluggish and crappy anyway. :(

I'm cooking red cabbage in cider for tomorrow's dinner. It's full on healthy from now on. Finished the last of the new year's dinner today not that it was necessarily very fattening but it was nice all the same.
