The station's intended demographic has a short attention span so I suppose they have to keep reminding them.

You underestimate us. The problem is Today FM have too which is probably why they have such poor listerhip figures compared to what they used to have.

Trust me when I say the majority of people in their target demographic can't stand the station anymore. I'm 21 now and I know loads of people my age who'd always have Today FM on and back at school we'd always have the teacher put it on for us because it was a great radio station up until 2012/2013. Myself and a lot of my friends always used to listen to The Ray Foley Show podcast.

I think if Today FM would get over their weird assumption that most young people are brain dead and want to listen to the kind of stuff they put in the air then the number of listeners they have would increase.

Yeah, but what's the kind of stuff you want to listen to? Alt/indie? Didn't work for Phantom or TXFM.

That was the genre of music they mainly played on the golden era of today fm

This cancer campaign for TodayFM is to them what DWTS was to Rte.

We will be listening to it nonstop now for weeks.

Nb, and don't get me wrong, it's a good charitable cause but stop mentioning it every 10mins.

I agree and to be honest it’s down right depressing. I especially can’t stand it when you have the likes of Fergal Darcy pontificating and being all preachy about the subject.

its been ramped up because of Tony Fenton, look I know its for a good cause, but I do agree with the constant pontificating like Johnire says is irritating, is it content creation now by mentioning it every show

Yes..Esme Faithful Locomotive.....that’s it exactly. I’m not for one moment not saying it’s not important-of course it is but for me I really don’t want to be listening to it constantly as I genuinely do find it very depressing. I know the obvious answer is to turn it off -it’s not that easy as it’s a background radio at work and I’ve no control over it.

As long as she doesn't muscle in on what Dec Pearse has been doing, hes settling into a nice little Saturday night show now.

The only good thing about Jenny Greene is the music she plays, she is no better than what's on today fm during the day

With Andy Preston moving from 104 to Q i can see Jenny moving to his slot.

    Its just being dragged out
For the last ELEVEN days to pick a song
Then close to 15 minutes this morning to announce it

Its fantastic that they have already raised close to €500,000

John Duggan now said that was his last sports bulletin , said he was moving downstairs , what ever that means ? Always liked John

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,594 ✭✭✭ILikeBoats

    Really? Missed that.
    I liked John.

His Cheltenham and Masters picks were always of interest

Looks like joining of the TodayFM Sports dept and OTB to OTB.com didn't bring everyone together. You would hear Duggan on OTB talking horses mainly but never heard Paul Collins on with the lads.

Isn't Newstalk in the same building? Assume he's moving there?
