He said they all work for the same company, he's moving downstairs (newstslk, I assume), and Ross Egan is going to be doing the sports news with Ian. He has been on newstslk for quite a while.

Muireann is going to spoil something about Game of Thrones tomorrow, she just wont be able to help herself.

I know. She’s an absolute dose. Anything that’s considered trendy she hops on the bandwagon. She’s the same with Derry Girls.

Tbf with the hype Game of Thrones has built up for the final season if you arent watching it live you will almost certainly get spoiled.

    Really? Missed that.
    I liked John.

His Cheltenham and Masters picks were always of interest

Karl Deeter will miss him most!

Have to laugh at the way he quickly disappears for the sports segment, (whenever standing in for Cooper)

It's not alone him tbf - some of the other stand ins for Matt would do the same.

Some of the stand-ins take the entire final hour of the Friday show off....

Guys, did you know Game Of Thrones was on last night? I don't think they've mentioned it on any of today's shows.

And in case you missed it also, Tiger Woods won the masters.

Let's be honest, its been getting talked about everywhere for the last 6 months.

Can't pick on TodayFM on this one.

Talk about the power of marketing.

Was John Duggan not head of sport on Today FM and he seem to anchor the Friday sports show on some of the Matt Cooper programmes when he was away !

Why is the cancelled/rescheduled gig by a band called Chasing Abbey one of the news stories on The Last Word?

    Seemed very random?

the further dumbing down of Matt Cooper and the TLW.....only about 5 years ago only a major band, say a u2 this would be a spot on the show, not a band that's on the level of the coronas/picture this.

Supposed they had to talk about other things than GOT and Tiger Woods. I'm guessing there was an extended segment on the golf since Matt comes off as obsessed with Golf and rugby as when theres a segment on one of those topics is on, he sounds like a giddy schoolboy

Karl Deeter doesn’t have a voice for radio. Very hard to listen to him imo. I’ve switched to Yeats and I don’t think I’ll switch back.

I know. Cringe moment of the day had to be Seán Reidy praising Liam Cunningham for being the Irish representative on the show!!! It’s primarily shot on the island of Ireland, it has hundreds of Irish people working on it and people like Aiden Gillen have been in it.

I thought that as well, in his defence he only started watching it 6 weeks ago. But how can he not have noticed all the other Irish actors, Roose Bolton and Littlefinger were two massive characters played by Irish actors

She had game of thrones spoilers up on her twitter last Monday and said people should mute the words game of thrones.

Some people are actually whinging about a promotion for charity.

    Some people are never happy.

Lazy content creation - you’ll get more clip shows about it during week from D&D, Last word etc replaying it ...

Must be tough for people to be constantly pissed off. The beauty of radio is that there is more than 1 station.

Insert the forced to listen to it at work response ....and it is really lazy way to fill up the shows -rather than just play music instead of someone presenter prattling on and on and more sad stories

Yeah, this is a new thing they do too.

They talk about the thing for a week or two after its gone as well.

They got at least a fortnight out of the big money giveaway they did.

Yes I agree. Did anyone else find the clips of interviews with people who’ve had cancer very distasteful? They totally sensationalised the whole thing with awful sound effects and dramatic pauses. I thought it really awful. Even more hateful was Fergal Darcys pontification of the whole thing. He really seems to wallow in the whole misery of it.

Radio station uses a national profile to raise awareness of a campaign they’re doing for charity at every given opportunity.

    And the problem is?
