Could be a lot worse lads. Switched to 2fm yesterday and jenifer zamp talking about how to do anal with an "expert".

I know very little is off limits nowadays but surely her show needs to rein it in a bit? Sex toys, anal sex and pornography in the morning on national radio, Christ almighty.

Gerry Ryan used to talk about stuff far worse in the same time slot, to be fair.

But he was probably smacked off his t1t$ at the time.

    And far more entertaining

Yes, i remember him talking about “snowballing”. I don’t think I’m a prude but, guys and girls, maybe not at 9.30 in the morning.

Gerry Ryan’s predilection for crudery isn’t an excuse for Jen Zamp. She’s clearly on a “race to the bottom”. No pun intended....

Which begs the question, “How do you do anal without an expert”

Sex sells. Always has. Gerry Ryan was broadcasting in a different era so maybe he'd have had anal experts on every other week.

It begs the question about whether there is or isn't a watershed on radio. Or what it is, if it exists. Is effing and blinding acceptable?

One thing is for sure. I wouldn't like young ears to listening. Have any parents been caught out and had their kids listen to things they'd rather not have them hear?

I dont think he went as far as the piece during the week on the JZ show.

So people dont like presenters talking about anal/porn but also get extremely upset when Alison makes a kid friendly.

It also begs the question; why is sex still a taboo subject in 2019? And what's wrong with discussing it in the morning?

We hear about murder and death and every other horrible thing that goes on in this world every hour on the news but when it's anything sex-related you need to cover your children's ears?! It makes no sense to me.

    Ferg going?? Here's hoping
He made an odd comment before playing a Nirvana song the other day saying who knows, he might be out the door next week!
Doesn't seem to matter who the presenter is nowadays, just repeat same playlist every couple of hours.

Today FM trying to copy 2fms all female lineup

Will Fergal's popularity surge now that he seems to have been axed?

If it is his show that's gone, it makes you wonder what the people who run the station want. He isn't liked on this thread but his show seemed to be doing fine in the JNLRs. In the last JNLR, he had 109,000 listeners. That was up 3,000 from the previous figures and 7,000 year-on-year. Is he being punished for being a man?

No, he's being punished for not being a celebrity. Two women were fired and two hired

Those figures are still bad tho. Tracy Clifford on 2fm has 147k listeners. One time Today FM had 180k listeners in the afternoon with Foley & Fenton.

Are any numbers on the station great these days?

What on earth is going on at this station? It seems like constant churn of presenters and changes to their line-up. What's the longest they've gone without a presenter change in the last 3 or 4 years? Can't be more than 6 months.

    Ian Dempsey and Alison curtis

You know who's really lucky at Today FM ? Phil Cawley, to still be there after 23 years is some achievement.

Surely it has to be Fergal that's gone, I don't think he's overall that bad a bit of a clown alright. Always thought if he was in control of the music the show would be a lot better

They're outliers though. Ian has been on breakfast forever and is a bit of an institution. Alison Curtis has carved out a niche for herself doing a family-friendly, dancing around the kitchen sort of show. The figures for the rest of the daytime on the station aren't so good.

Ah come on that's harsh to say she's the cork version of doireann garrihy. She's apparently been doing a radio show for redfm, which is news to me. I wonder which weekday presenter is looking around nervously ?

Going by the rate at which Today FM changes its presenters these days, everyone should be looking around nervously.

Holy mother of god, just when you think things couldn't get any worse at TodayFM. There must be a hole in the bottom of that barrell from all the scraping

If Mairead Ronan or Anna Geary don't deliver what the powers that be want, they too will be gone this time next year. It's a ruthless business.

Maybe vogue Williams - every other month there’s a piece on her in the indo or elsewhere trying to shill a new career/venture

I wonder could the lack of competitions or chances to win cash be affecting Today FM's listener numbers?

My daughter was in the car with me the other day and asked me to switch to Spin and in the few minutes we had it on someone won €450 and a few minutes later she switched over to FM104 and we heard someone else picking up €400.

I guess it was just a coincidence to hear competition winners on two stations within 20 minutes or so but it got me thinking that you never really hear similar on TodayFM.
