You keep on telling yourself that. It won't make it any less true. Fergal is a direct descendant of the Foley style of presentation. Wannabe country funnyman.

Foley is down to earth, naturally witty and creative. He naturally doesn't appeal to everyone, but he's good at what he does.

Fergal comes across false and re-hashes the same ideas over and over.

    Fixed that for you.

I agree 100%. Darcy has the depth of a puddle. He strikes me as being very false and insincere.

Your argument is weak. Just because they are both from the country and you don't like them does not make them the same. Completely different presenters.

Isn't to me implied when anyone gives their opinion? It is to me anyway. You probably don't need to fix all our posts.

    I probably won't, so.

I just get really bored with the never-ending "Is maith liom uachtar reoite ach ní mhaith liom caca milis" [I like ice cream but I don't like sweet cake] comments.

Don't, please. We are all capable of distinguishing facts (today is Wednesday) from opinion (Wednesday is the most tedious day of the week).

Nitpicking posts like yours can get very annoying very quickly, and add nothing to the conversation. Please stop doing so - MOD

Can anyone remember the name of the guy that was on the show with Ray Foley on TodayFm?
I remember Ann Gleeson used to be in on the conversations too-I think she was the show’s producer.

He sure is. And those stupid sound effects he has add nothing to his daft stories.

Jp or Funky Phone Boy Al?

Also Adele McDonnell future PD of Today FM produced the show for a time

Herd him when he started on Iradio he sounded false and shallow then but out west when there was only mid west and north west radio playing big tom and mick flavan this guy became cool as iradio worked the collages and that type of listener he got a following but typical big fish in a small pond syndrome but now hes a small in the big pond hes drowning in my opinion .
This false laugh and this crap when were kids do ya remember crap.he has to be the next for the door

Agreed, she's basically the same as Muireann O'connell except slightly less annoying. She plays the same music, talks the same ****e, and even has the text in future that she had. 2 years max she'll have

like I said before the rot set in Today FM, the day ray foley was hired.
that is the earliest I can trace it back to, around 2004.

Totally agree with you. She’s definitely easier to listen to than Muireann OConnell but that’s about it. She’ll be gone definitely within 2 years.

He was already gone from the station when all of those people were hired. And he was there for something like ten years before that.

The station was still a success when he left. The show he did has lost over a third of its listeners and there have been five failed attempts to turn it around. The station was at the height of its success when it was Dempsey, Darcy, Foley, Fenton and Cooper. Blaming him for the rot when he was a part of its most successful ten years doesn't add up. Fine if you don't like him, but the rot set in after.

Most on here don't like Ray Darcy either but the rot actually began when Darcy left. Badly managed ever since.

I was referring to the rot, being the start of the glut of personality driven, annoying, loud presenters we heard during the celtic tiger and are still experiencing on Today FM and others. not referring the station's success or lack of.

    Opinion instead of facts so.

Ray Darcy got there first in my opinion but I don't blame him for every radio show I don't like. If you just want to attack Foley I won't argue with you your entitled to your opinion.

Fair play to Mat Cooper for plugging Anton Savage and Muireann O' Connell's gigs on Virgin Media!

The golden era of Today FM is long gone & is never coming back,

Anna Geary getting a show on Today FM shows how far the station has fallen from it's glory days.
