For anyone missing Kelly Anne Byrne, she's on The Face Radio from 7pm to 9pm every Friday, and it's really brilliant.
I listen on The Radio Garden app.

Block Rockin' Beats is my go-to on a Friday evening, but I see the website has at least five archived shows. Excellent, thanks for sharing!

I listened to Today FM today for the first time in ages. They played Katy Perry,Ella Henderson and Ed Sheerin and when I switched on 3 hours later another Katie Perry song was playing!! It was like time had stood still- they’re playing the same songs today that they were back in March 2020!!
Who on earth is that Jessica Maciel one? What sort of accent has she got? Utterly bizarre.

I honestly cannot tell the difference between most of the female presenters on Today FM.
shauna, claire, paula, jessica, pamela (btw..is there another pamela??) all sound the same to me.

The "Whose show is it anyway" hour on Sunday must have been dropped already.

After the travesty of Fred Cooke and his wife last week I'm not surprised

So it's bad when they play the top songs of the minute all the time, but it's also bad when they intersperse that with songs from one to two years ago from top selling albums?

    Can't win, really, can they.

I should be winding down listening to Eds Songs of Praise now.

I turned on Today FM just now out of curiosity and Cheaps Trills was being played.

So Spotify for me wind down on a Sunday evening from now on.

Ok, so the new Pamela Joyce show is just her usual inoffensive banter and the standard daytime playlist. No "here's the music I like" or anything to differentiate it from any of the preceding shows.

Can't believe Ed's Songs of Praise got cut for three hours of more bland same old.

Yup, same here, but i'll be switching back on at 10 for Ed.

And I just looked on the app and all the old episodes of ESOP are gone.

My idea to play some old shows gone up in dust too.

He has his playlists on Spotify.

I'm listening and it is fluffy so far.

I tuned into radio nova. No Ed songs of praise but better than the generic today fm playlist with generic dj interjecting every so often.

It’s ESOP on Spotify in my kitchen this evening and for the foreseeable future. I wish Pamela well and she has certainly earned her own show but she would have been a much better replacement for Fergal Darcy IMO.

Same here, I was doing my usual drive down from Galway to Kerry this evening and forgot that Ed Smith was moved. I usually intentionally leave late so I don't have to listen to Phil Cawley but it might as well have been him for all the bland purile sh*te that was being played.

Absolute sh1*e playing on today fm this evening. ESOP badly missed

When did Ed move to the early evening on a Sunday. I must be one of the few who likes that he is gone back to a later slot tonight

Watching the football then will switch on today fm at 10. Hoping Ed has a few subtle digs with his music choice this evening.

Happy for Pamela but it's not my cuppa, think it's as mentioned, a kind of continuation of daytime. Might tune in again in a few weeks just to see if she has plans.

Ed going to the later slot isnt the problem its that he has replaced paul mcloone and instead of 2 good shows we just have 1 as on whats been on air since 7. the new show is going to just be the same crap music over and over like what we hear most of the time on the station during the day time

She's a Dub but she's married to a Brazilian tattoo artist running a shop in Malahide (Maciel is her married name) so perhaps his accent rubs off on her.

Good song selection from Ed and listeners. I think a few digs in some songs. Hedonism by Skunk Anansie an example.

Why oh why is that clown Darcy still hanging onto his job? There’s something seriously wrong if someone like him is kept on and someone like Ed basically gets demoted.

They could literally replace his show with a bunch of South Park member berries.

The show would be exactly the same.

I know it's on late, but a great 1st show from Ed tonight.
    Onwards and forwards.

Good JNLRs which equals good advertising revenue. No point in bringing in edgier music shows if you can't afford to pay them.

These decisions shouldn’t be coming as a surprise. Bauer are a completely different kettle of fish here and are a multinational radio operator taking over a struggling (profit wise) Irish radio operator.

A quick look at the UK radio market over the last many years will show you what will happen here. Many shows on air (especially niche shows) are down to regulation and nothing else. The Last Word is there due to regulation. The news output is there due to regulation.

Eventually, more and more regulatory required shows will be dropped and output will be harmonised across the 24 hours to make the station as tight and on brand as possible.

Which is what I don't get about getting rid of Paul McLoone and cutting Ed Smith back to the graveyard shift. I've no idea of what Paul's JNLRs were like but from memory, Ed's went up last time out (don't remember if it was for ESOP, National Anthems, or both).

Either way, evenings from 7pm are not prime listening time, you'd think - drivetime is over, people are finishing up cooking and heading to evening activities, whether that's out of the house or just in front of the TV. So your best chance of increasing numbers is doing something different, and not just doing the same as you've been doing all day?

Jebus, that's a depressing thought. I mean, it's already been shown there apparently isn't a big enough market in Ireland to sustain one indie/alternative station, so "niche" programming is what we're reduced to.
