    Evening all,

I bought a set of rotor 3D30 cranks and q rings. Bit of a spur of the moment thing as they were going cheap.

So obviously I only checked compatibility when the cranks arrived and low and behold they wont fit.

The BB i have is RS 500 and the spindle is 24mm. Is there a adapter/replacement BB i can get. I did a quick search online and its not kicking anything obvious back.
Is there such a thing and if so what should I be looking for,

    Thanks in advance,

    Bob

oh dear you might be in bother there.

The BB you have is hollow tech 2 and the crank you have is designed for a BB30. I'm not 100% but I think you can get a conversion for BB30 - hollowtech 2 but not vice versa although I may be completely wrong. Good opportunity to buy a new frame :)

Won't work. Your BB us 24mm diameter. The one you bought is 30mm. 30 into 24 won't go no matter what way you try it.

Rotor make a bb that will fit a hollowtech bb (if its bb86) and will then take a bb30. Not sure what model it is but I've had it done on a road bike where I changed it from a ultegra crank to a bb30 rotor crank. Not sure where your based but 360 cycles in clontarf where great when I was getting it done.

You more than likely have a standard threaded bottom bracket. Rotor do a version to fit a their bb30 cranks in a normal threaded frame. You would have to check compatibility with your particular cranks though.

    Thanks for the replies.

    So a bit more digging...

My current BB is Crankset Shimano Tiagra BB type: BSA 68mm / Hollowtech II

So according to this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/rotor-3d30-crankset-road/ which is what I have!

    Compatibility
    Bottom bracket: BSA, ITA, BB86, BB90, BB30, BB30A, PF30, BBRight, BB386 Evo

So according to that it should work with the right BB

Anyway am still at a loss. The link Clog gave seems to only be for 3d+ but might work.

They make nothing easy do they,

BSA and ITA refer to the thread (English vs Italian) as far as I know, and don't necessarily relate to the BB type. In this case your BB is Hollowtech II (threaded) and you have bought BB30 (press fit).

Can you sell on or return the crankset you have and buy one that is compatible with your bike? Seems to me like the easiest option, as I imagine any sort of adaptor is going to be a PITA to source and probably won't be cheap!

Yeah i can see them on if I need to.

But as far as i can tell these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/rotor-bsa-30mm-steel-bottom-bracket/rp-prod130466?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=generic78888&awc=2698_1481100597_0e9b1ec12ba6ce3628d55e54a2571381 Should work.

Though they are listed for 3d+ only, but i can't see any difference with the 3d+ and 3d30 in terms of spindle length/width! But certinaly open to correction here.

    Thanks mirrormatrix

On Rotor's own site they are listed for all 30mm Rotor cranksets,

Ah i never saw that, on wiggle and the like they are all listed as 3d+ only!

So that looks like it will work. I'll give it a go anyway.

    Thanks nilhg
