    Easy one first :)

Collect a parkrun 50 t-shirt before the end of the year, got the volunteering one in the post today.

    - Improve my time on the Comrades Up-run in June to something close to 8:30 (currently 8:47)
    - Sub-3 at Berlin in Sept

-Stick to a plan and stay injury free.
-Start logging to help with motivation.
-PB in 5k, 10k and half marathon distances. Not going to set myself specific goals just yet but as I haven't raced either in a while, I think 10k and half marathon PBs should be very achievable. 5k will be difficult.

Aiming for this one too - but starting from a low base! (18 so far)

Jogging just over a year now. Did Belfast and Dublin last year. Dublin 3:40:40.

    For 2017:

    1) Do Ho Chi Minh City marathon 15 Jan. Sub 4 hour target due to heat/humidity/lack of training while travelling.

    2) Copenhagen marathon in May sub 3.5 hours.

    3) Do Athens marathon in November.

Snap! Figure 50 weeks to rack up ~30 runs should be achievable.

Finally get rid of my injuries and be able to run again!

    2017 targets:

Run every day in 2017. Normally the minimum distance I would do is 4 miles, but since this goal is likely to come under severe pressure at times, I will apply the Ron Hill unit (1 mile).

    Run 2,500 miles in total

    A 5k pb (currently 18.34)

    A 5 mile pb (currently 31.34)

    A 10k pb (currently 39.52)

    A 10 mile pb (currently 66.21)

    A sub 1.30 HM (pb currently 1.30.30)

No marathon on the immediate horizon.

Nice 10 mile in Trim on 5th of next month to tick that one off or are you heading for Dungarvan the same day?

    Sub 3 DCM

Ran a total of 320km last year. Lots to do.. More kms, more sleep and to not break myself on the bike again.

This will be my second year running so the main thing is to keep the enjoyment going without getting too hang up on times. Still ... got to have something to aim at, so:

    1. Regular Strength/Conditioning work (to keep a dodgy knee at bay)
    2. Sub 6' mile (PB 6:28)
    3. Sub 20' 5k (PB 21:20)
    4. Sub 21' Cabinteely PR (PB 22:3x)
    5. Sub 33' 5 mile (PB 38:06)
    6. Sub 42' 10k (PB 49:35)
    7. Reach 50 parkruns (half-way there)
    8. Try XC racing

Planning on traveling for a few months in Sept so I'll only be working with 2/3 of a year in 2017.

The beginning of which will focus on the 10 mile distance then moving to shorter distance and track as we move into the summer.

    Mile: Sub 4.40
    3K: Sub 9.10
    5K: Sub 16
    5 Mile: Sub 27
    10K: Sub 34
    10 Mile: Sub 55

Of these the three goal targets will be the 10 mile between Dungarvan and Ballycotton along with 3K and 5K times over the summer.

First off, I need to work on my core / strength and conditioning if I'm to push on, ignoring it for too long now.

    -5k - sub 20 (PB 20.30)
    -5mile - sub 33 (PB 35.13)
    -10k - sub 42 (PB 42.41)

Going beyond 10k, my times don't really stand up to my shorter distance times. I need to work on endurance and pacing for the longer distances - pacing often goes out the window for me in longer races due to a combination of panic (sometimes) and lack of discipline (mostly).

    -10mile - sub 75 (PB 78.02)
    -Half Marathon - (a) sub 100 (PB 103.48)

I'd like to give XC a try also. Hopefully with a bit more focus and hard work I can achieve most of these this year.

    - Sub40 10km
    - 1.30 Half Marathon
    - 3.15 Marathon

Had a great 2016, before I'd only done Rathfarham 5k and Bay10k in 2015, probably went overkill on races last year though so will focus on quality over quantity this year, Dublin was my first full but knew I was unable to do it this year. Booked Derry in June and so far only Raheny and Dune cross border in Feb, plan is to train well for Derry and try get under the 3.49 I got in Dublin, after that I'll try and do more unusual races/trail runs. I do have a 20.00 5k pb that needs a second shaved off.

Hope to run 2000 miles and enjoy my running as with young kids at home sleep and recovery will be the hardest part.

Will try to do a few races upto half marathon and will only do a full if things are going very well by the summer.

    Mile sub 5.20
    5km sub 18
    10km sub 38
    Half sub 1.25

Not sure if I will get to do a 10 mile. Sub 63 would be great.

Aiming to do Cork & Dublin marathons again this year, hopefully both under the 4 hours this year, did 4:08 & 4:06 last year so I shouldn't be too far off.
Beyond that try to stay injury free!

Other events lined up - Ballycotton 10, Mallow 10, will think about East Cork & Dingle too, did halves for those last year.

    2) sorted yesterday. Incredible heat, not impressed by cups of water/energy drinks instead of bottles. Decent course, great crowds. Scrapped over the line at 3:29:04. Delighted.

Left things too late for Athens, so Dublin again this year.

    1) Don't get injured
    2) Don't get sick and end up in hospital again
    3) Sub 18 min 5k (PB = 18:39)
    4) 10k PB (Currently = 39:05)
    5) 5 mile PB (Currently 32:00 but haven't ran a lot of them really - the plan is to change that next year)

All the running goals are possible I think but I'd be happy if only 1 and 2 come to fruition - this year has been an absolute nightmare on a number of levels :(

    Mid-year review and it ain't pretty :D

    1) Don't get injured - actually doing ok on this one, being sensible about ramping up mileage/intensity and using the threadmill at least once a week seems to be working so far

    2) Don't get sick and end up in hospital again - mega mega fail on this one, although to be fair to myself, I was probably referring to a recurrence of my asthma/brochial issues rather than fupping kidney stones.

    3) Sub 18 min 5k (PB = 18:39) - haven't ran a 5K yet this year, was in decent shape in January but that all went t1ts up for about 10 weeks or so. I probably could run sub 19 mins now I'd say (ran 19:47 as part of a 5 miler last week) so it could yet be in scope later in the year

    4) 10k PB (Currently = 39:05) - again, haven't ran a 10K yet this year. Plan is to run Bilboa AC 10K next month....not in PB shape right now but a sub-40 is possibly within range so that would be ok in the circumstances

    5) 5 mile PB (Currently 32:00 but haven't ran a lot of them really - the plan is to change that next year) - I've morally but not officially achieved this one, might be running another 5 miler in a couple of weeks so will hopefully confirm it then

    1. Sub 30 min 5km (currently 31.20)
    2. Sub 60 min 10km (currently 66 mins)
    3. Complete a half-marathon in June.

Mid- year review of my goals above:

    1. Ran the 5km Great Run in 28.05 so happy days.
    2. Not there yet, 65 mins two weeks ago, on track to achieve by the end of the year
    3. Half marathon postponed to August but it will be done.

2016 was good to me so hopefully I can use everything I've learned to have an even better 2017

    200m - Sub 25 (25.43)
    300m - Sub 40 (42.3)
    400m - Sub 54 (54.84) --> The main target!
    800m - Sub 2.10 (2.14)
    Mile - Sub 5.10 (5.22)
    5k - Sub 18.30 (19.02)
    Keep up the strength work
    Sub 20min Oldbridge Parkrun

Nearly there, might scrap the 5k one and just concentrate on trying to be a sprinter!

    Mid-year review

    1) Stay injury free - fingers crossed OK so far!
    2) 5k 18:xx (PB 19:11) - no concerted attempt at this, best 19:33
    3) 10k 39:xx (PB 41:57) - as above, no targeted efforts but improved PB with 41:53
    4) 10 mile 67:xx (PB 69:10) - Happy with 67:12 in Dungarvan
    5) Sub 1:30 half (PB 1:37:50, don't ask!) - aiming for Charleville in Sept.
    6) Sub 3:30 marathon (PB 3:35 off road) - screwed up Limerick, improved to 3:27:15 in Cork
    7) 100k - Finished Portumna in 10h37m. Not on my original list

Had planned an ultra for further down the line, but realised I might as well go for it while I had the miles in my legs and was injury free. Target will be sub-10 next year!

Will be trying to improve my 5k and 10k over the next couple of months, before training in earnest for Dublin Marathon.

10k - sub 36.30 . PB is 36,48 I usually target one or two in March but current injury would need to clear up pronto to aim for those.

Update: I'm working from the bottom up ;)

    1. 1st Marathon, Great Limerick Run, April 30th - Well that was rubbish!!
    2. Sub 45 minute 10k - Not attempted yet, but have a bit of confidence it is possible
    3. Sub 22 minute 5k - 22:26 on 1st attempt of the year, pretty certain it is in the bag, just need a course to attempt it
    4. Run 1,000 miles - Currently on course for over 1,100 miles, hopefully with the training for Charleville will keep me on course.

The 1st one is everything, once that is done I will shift focus to the races I ran this year just to see how far I have come.

Mixed bag, obviously the marathon was **** but the rest look very possible at this point of the year. Need to spend a bit more time foam rolling and keep incorporating the strength and speed work for Charleville.
