ha. Well maybe he will learn (just like Conor did) that wolfing down steaks during fight week is not the way to go about things - even if your weight is on point at that moment in time.

He has to eat something though, so I'm not so sure that made much difference.

Title on the line. If max loses it makes the weight an even bigger sh1tshow. I agree with the comment about kavanagh is hypocritical ( i doubt any camp has never missed weight, open to correction ) but hes entitled to say what he wants and pettis probably talked about a mcgregor fight at some point and hes messed up big time here.

He obviously wasnt on point when he had that steak.

I also agee about the mental toughness with regard to car incondent. How long ago did that happen?

October 28th. Police in Milwaukee have an open investigation and run regular patrols by his house.

I'm rooting for Pettis big time. This photo will always stick with me, maybe b/c I lost my dad recently enough too.

As for the belt, meh. The whole thing is a sh1t-show even if Max wins. The real champion is off in Tenerife eating KFC and drinking Coronas lol.

Didnt accuse you of being a hater, I just said you cant hold JK to your standards or anybody else's hes his own man he cant tweet what he wants if you dont like it dont follow,

Dont know why you care for the tweet so much you seem to be offended on behalf of Pettis from my reading of your original post.

I guarantee Pettis and Duke Roufus will be blanking John in future.

He's a Head Coach of the most famous MMA athlete of all-time. Don't understand why he needs to kick Pettis or any other fighter while they're down. Simple argument.

More than anybody he should know that weight-cutting is not easy and people can get it wrong, even with the best will in the world.

meh, kavanagh is an mma coach, not a parish priest, he can tweet what he wants it doesnt affect me really. whatever the circumstances its unprofessional from pettis, fair enough hes had a tough camp but it looks bad with him going on about being on track eating a big steak loving life on embedded.

Some people think being a fan of something means you have to be a sycophant.

I love Radiohead but if they release a sh1t album, I'm gonna say it's sh1t lol.

I've a ton of respect for Conor and John - and praise/defend them on this forum almost non-stop.

But when it comes to mocking other athletes or mentally ill people who send STUPID messages to your inbox, then yeah I'll be critical. Just as I was critical of that time he said they couldn't afford tracksuits for the IMMAF worlds. Or when Luka needed a shorts sponsor etc.

    And of course.....

TOM EGAN. lol. Poor Tom. :pac:

I know WL, I was just messing with you! :)

These sort of Tweets are exactly the reason John is getting a bad reputation among other Elite Coaches and fighters. Chael Sonnen said as much on his podcast.

I'm not sure John is too worried.

Excited for the card, really excited to see if Korean Superboy can live up to the hype.
Matt Brown is an odd boy, he is super intense and is all business.
This card would have been top top with Cormier Johnson still on it, but it's still got a lot of potential.

Pettis weighed 154lbs on Wednesday according to his team. Which should be a very easy cut down to 145lbs. Obviously, for whatever reason, he couldn't sweat it out.

That steak he had for dinner, which incidentally was 6 days ago, might well have been the only substantial meal he had that day.

I don't get why everyone is on his case. He had the hardest camp of his life in so many ways and it's his 2nd attempt at the new weight class. He made weight the first time!! It's not as if he has a history of screwing up. Give him a break.
Just wrote a long-Ish reply to this and my phone spat it out. And my bus ride is over now...I'll be back

Should be interesting if this goes to championship rounds. Holloway has never been in a 5 rounder but looks like cardio shouldn't be an issue. A bad weight cut could affect Pettis. For me it's either a Holloway decision or else Pettis by submission. Don't see either being knocked out.

Looking at the odds on Cowboy I think he's a bit short at 1/3. I'd have him slight favourite but Brown is no slouch. Wouldn't be one bit surprised to see an upset here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 647 ✭✭✭KeepTheFaith

Chael saying Kavanagh is getting a bad rep among fighters and coaches is much the same as Cowboy saying that McGregor isn't liked among fighters and he's not 'one of the lads' It's a desperate attempt to take the shine off a glittering career, borne from jealousy and frustration.
It's a bit like that kid who gets into an argument playing football and shouts at the person that nobody likes them.

It's pathetic but thankfully, I'm sure Kavanagh doesn't give a good fcuk.

  • Registered Users Posts: 735 ✭✭✭Django99

Chael being Chael and saying things to keep himself in the spotlight.

To be honest I don't think Kavanagh has to answer to anyone really. Most of what he does or says will fly under the radar of casual fans.

Wednesday is two days from weighin, Wednesday evening less. 9lbs could be a huge amount to lose in that time if he's already pretty depleted. You can't just look at the number in isolation. His "nutritionist" (Lou Giordano) has been criticised for his approach. This is the guy who managed Hendricks' weight. He owns a supplement company and just decided he was a weight specialist.

I very much doubt the steak was his only meal that day. Giordano is us on record saying they he was eating more because of the cut was going well. That's a dumb approach. He's not ahead when he still has 10+ lbs to lbs. If there was salt involved it could screw his whole cut.

People are on his case because his a pro fighter and making weight is his job. Not making weight is pretty disrespectful. I understand that the arson was probably a lot on his mind. But 3 days ago his team says that they had forgot about it within 48hours. Regardless, cutting weight comes down to what he puts his his body, if he mind is elsewhere it doesn't matter as long as he is following the plan. He is paying somebody to think for him.

I understand where you are coming from, regarding not giving him a hard time. But I think you letting you personal experience influence that. If Alvarez showed up for 205 at 156lbs and the belt wasn't on the line would you defend his as well.

Anyway as for the fights, I think I cowboy is going to plant his shin into Browns liver and drop him.

Pettis to gas in the 4th

Cub to be put away. He's become the top 5 gatekeeper at 145lbs.

What an absolute beauty of a kick. Shawn Michaels sweet-chin-music-esque.

I could watch replays of that on repeat for at least 3 to 4 minutes.
