I just heard the news that Greg Lake died yesterday, of cancer, at 69. This in the same year that we lost his friend and colleague Keith Emerson. (BBC) :(

I don't like Christmas music at the best of times, and so I'm not happy that some folks in our office are playing it, but when I Believe In Father Christmas came on yesterday, I told those around me "that's the only Christmas song I like", because it speaks to the modern obsession with Christmas and the commercialism surrounding it. "The Christmas we get, we deserve."

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Always have "I Believe in Father Christmas" as number 1 on my favourite Christmas songs of all time.

Another great showcase for Greg's voice was ELP's version of Jerusalem, which was banned by the BBC for being "disrespectful" to the song. To them it was nothing of the sort and was instead a celebration of their Englishness.
