    Hi,

How big a job is it to get an old fuse board replaced with a modern board with circuit breakers?

There are about 8 fuses in the old board, the house is an old cottage.

    Thanks!

Replacing the fuse board isn't an issue, the problem will be the condition of the existing wiring. Switching fuses for a modern board is easy but more than likely willl need some or all wiring replaced too.

I'd like to know this as well. I bought an old house last year but the wiring is quite new but the fuse box is old and seems a bit messy.

Thanks - the wiring in the fuse board is the modern colour scheme of blue and brown, not the old red / black kind. Does this make a difference?

Also, what would the cost of a board and the breakers be?

    Thanks

As above its not a particularly big job to change a fuseboard to a MCB board. Going rate is 300 to 400. The problem could be the wiring. If a contractor changes the fuseboard, the house will have to be tested and problems could be found
