Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A one on one, attacker is always favourite as he has the options and can make the keeper react.

People are just knee jerking reacting and having a go at Karius as it's easy to do so whilst ignore other errors that put him in that situation in the first place.

Look over my posts regarding Karius and you'll see no knee jerk reaction.

All I'm saying in relation to the second is come and commit or stay on your line. Karius came half way and hesitated.

Really not sure what Matip was at for the second there. Was he trying to backheel it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,631 ✭✭✭Dirty Dingus McGee

I think Karius could have done better for both goals.

The free kick wasn't right in the corner and at a savable height and he should have stood up better for the second goal.

1 up after 5 mins and been shocking since, learned **** all from last wkend, that trip to barce has certainly worked hasn't it,FIRMINHO,mane and origi have been rubbish in fact FIRMINHO has been ****e for quite a few games now

    Christ.

I couldn't personally blame Marius for the second.

Well be doing well to win this now tho.

    Christ.

I didn't see an awful lot wrong with his post. Bit of hyperbole sure, but it's a valid point. Karius doesn't have the tools to be a solid PL keeper, that's abundantly clear already. He's also showing no signs of improving, instead he's going the other way.

Passing has been poor all half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Even though Mignolet is not the long term answer in goal he actually does make saves in between the odd mistake. Just a better option right now.

Jaysus Antonio got one and didn't use his head!!!
We're gonna screw it up Pool fans so no need to panic.

He is in central areas plenty today.
Klopp doesn't mandate wide players to stay on the wing.

He's simply off form IMO but as with any striker a goal is never far off.

But getting into those central areas from a start out wide seems not to suit him. We've seen it in enough games now that I think it's a factor with him. It's up to him to cope better with it, rather than everyone else having to accommodate this limitation of his.

It's obviously exaggerated but has he ever saved us, where you think that was a good save?

Just give me something, anything, to show he might have it.

Our front 3 have goals in them. We could easily score 2+ in the second half .... could concede more 2 unfortunately.

Our defense is as bad as ever IMO, 6 conceded in last 3 halves of PL football against teams not far from relegation.

As someone said, even when DeGea was making errors in his first season, he was at least making saves either side of those mistakes. Karius is just leaving everything in. Not everything is his fault, but a few saves are to be expected even when it isn't his fault. I could leave everything in for 20 grand (or whatever) a week, no bother.

That trip to barce has worked wonders for us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,403 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Karius isn't good enough, bottom line. We can get into the details of the second goal till the cows come home, but the macro level reality is that the opposition has to get very few quality shots on target to score goals - at least, they have to get relatively far fewer than we do. Additionally, that has to be creating confidence issues for the defenders infront of him.

    You are correct.
Lots of our players play slightly out of position in Klopp's team. I reckon firmino is just a tad off form though. He did tremendously well for first quarter of season, unrealistic to expect that to continue all season.

Coutinho missing is big factor too perhaps.

    Who knows.
Thankfully it's not Lucas who came on anyway.

Great finish from origi. Over average return lately from him.

We need to keep this intensity up for 45 minutes.

Any of you guys interested in putting in bid for Claudio Bravo?
    ;)

I hear we're scouting Abu Hamza.

Randolph is a disaster waiting to happen. Don't think he has the required quality to play consistently in the PL. Remember he left in a shocker against United last season too.

Not a vintage weekend for goalkeepers.

    Randolph the red gloved keeper
    Has a very shiny goal
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glowed
    Then one balmy Sunday Eve
    Liverpool came to play
Randolph with your goal so bright..
..won't you let 4 in tonight

    Then all the other keepers
    Laughed at him with glee
    Randolph the red gloved keeper
    You'll go down in history

It's very lazy the De Gea comparisons, he showed glimpses of being special even though he was very suspect under crosses.

    Karius is terrible full stop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Carroll coming on for his inevitable headed goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,465 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    Great carrol is coming on

    Can see headlines tomorrow

    ''Christmas Carroll For Slaven ''

Faith could be in Carrolls side here..

I don't remember all of the missed saves from De Gea back then too. Even being much younger than Karius.
