Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gears not engaging

Car is 02 1.4 petrol corolla. Taking off, I heard a bang and now car won't move in any gear.

Clutch pedal and gearbox feel normal. But letting up the clutch after putting into gear and car won't move. Not stalling or anything, no attempt to engage whilst letting up the clutch.

Any idea what's wrong? Possibly a new clutch kit needed .. ? What price am I looking at ?

    Thanks!

New Clutch needed. Sounds like the clutch plate broke

    Sounds like clutch failure alright.
Looking at around €130/150 for a clutch kit and anything from €150 upwards for labour depending on who you go too.

toyota also suffer from broken driveshaft,a quick look in behind wheels might review more.

If you're lucky, it could be the c.v. joint at the wheel that has failed. It happened my partners Yaris earlier in the year.

Have a look under the car, the Passanger side drive shafts like to snap on Corolla's & Avensis' of this era.

    Bingo!!

That's exactly what happened, on the Passenger side.

I took off fairly hard to get into a space on the roundabout and bang.

Thanks everyone. Should be a simple enough fix.

few different size shafts out there so all info will be needed to correctly match part.
