I bought an old 531 frameset a few years back on ebay, desperate paint scheme - it had been attacked with spray cans of all different colours so bought it cheap. Only problem though, way too big frame for me - its a 58. Been sitting in the attic for awhile now. So thinking of selling, but was wondering - would it be possible to have it taken apart and rebuilt to my sizing? If it is, who would people reccommend, obviously would have to be someone with fairly specialist skills. Any thoughts/comments?

i know shag all of what i'm talking about, but that sounds like a job which would be multiples in terms of cost of buying a similar frame of the correct size.

There are a couple of 531 frame sets on EBay at the moment at around €150.
There's one NOS going for around €250.
While it would theoretically be possible to have your frame resized, I imagine, it would cost about the same as having a new frame built to your specifications.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think it would be really feasible, but curiousity led me to ask the question. One for the adverts for sale section in the new year methinks!

Can't be resized due to the fact that most 531 tubes are butted. Thinner in the middle to save weight and thicker at the end for strength. Cutting the ends of the tubes wouldn't seem like a good idea to me.
