Chatting with a friend today about the .17 calibre while I know alot use the hmr round myself included it got me thinking. Anyone else using a different .17 rounds I know there will be one or 2 who use the hornet .17 but anyone got something out of the ordinary like a mach2 or a .17 remi.

If so I would love to hear about it!

A mate of mine has a Remington 700 chambered in 17 Rem. Ammo runs around €25 per box of 20. The bullet/round is seriously fast, and so flat. Speeds faster than a Swift.

As for real world performance, i've no idea. Never fired the gun. I'll drop him a line and ask him to stick a post up.

My 308 was a .17 rem when it started out.
It is just the fastest thing i have shot, Ideal for shy foxes.
If you can see him you can hit him.

I had a .17 rem years ago when the gardai refused to licence .223's. The problem was remington were the only ones making the ammunition for them at that time. I also found the bore would foul up a lot in colder weather.
