I'd recommend you all download the official Eurovision app. There's a cool feature where you can vote as each song progresses and monuments in Kyiv will turn a colour corresponding to the votes. For example, Red and pink is a good vote but blue and green are bad.

    Evening all.

'Tis that time of year again.

Am off to Brussels in the morning. Feeling very European and whatnot. :D

Looking forward to this. I actually think the standard of this semi is pretty good; 4 of my top 5 will be on tonight. There will almost certainly be songs that qualify on Thursday that are weaker than songs missing out tonight.

Prediction wise, there are seven I'm reasonably confident about qualifying. Trying to pick the last three is proving very difficult and I don't think I want to call it at this stage tbh!

    Definitely qualifying:
Sweden: Nothing groundbreaking but it's a fun song and well performed
Azerbaijan: Solid song, cool offbeat performance
Portugal: Potential semi-final winner, and potential winner Saturday night
Armenia: The other potential semi-final winner, though I don't see it winning the whole thing.

    Probably qualifying:
Belgium: This could be a disaster live but the song is too good to not qualify (I hope!)
Finland: Potential dark horse of the whole competition, very strong when performed live.
Poland: I find this song incredibly dull but it is well sung, seems to have a good following and Poland always do well in televote.

    Borderline:
Georgia: Didn't give this much chance previously but supposedly had a very strong jury performance.
Australia: Decent song and great voice but the whole package is a little bit underwhelming.
Greece: Potentially ropey live vocals, will get a strong televote but may not do so well with juries.
Moldova: Eurovision cheese, but of the good kind. Brining Epic Sax guy back should secure a good televote!
Cyprus: If the choreography is pulled off smoothly, this could do well.
Latvia: Catchy song, energetically performed but another case where dodgy live vocals may hinder it.

Unlikely to qualify (but not impossible):
    Albania: Overshadowed by Georgia
Iceland: Decent song but lacks a "wow" factor
    Czech Republic: Nice but forgettable

    No chance of qualifying:
    Montenegro: No comment
    Slovenia: Zzzzzzz

I'm gonna save that pic for use during the World Cup. I've a feeling it might come in handy.

No, they can't vote. They wouldn't be voting in this semi anyway.

No female tv presenters in Ukraine?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,569 ✭✭✭✭ProudDUB

Three lads presenting....in front of a big "Celebrate Diversity" sign.

Nice to see the Ukrainians have a sense of humour.
