Highlight of the night? Definitely the brits thinking they were going to get 12 points of us and then getting **** all! :D Small victories and all that.

Yeah, but she was worth at least 1 point. who picks the jury? RTE?

It was a decent song, performed well - love to know how the Irish jury voted down the line

Lots of tweets that Ireland sent a strong message with their votes:
    None for the UK
12 for the country that headquarters the EU.

But don't we give them nul points most years?

Disappointed Bulgaria didn't win, but happy for Portugal nonetheless.

Glad for Belgium doing so well. I would have liked to have seen France place higher.

Spain coming last was not surprise.

In fairness, the Belgian song was ( in my view) worthy of a big vote - can't imagine how the Brexit thing would be an influence on the jury ?

    No

I think the last time was when they got null points.

Portugal win euro 2016 and now eurovision within 12 months.

In 2004 Greece won Euro 2004 and the next year they won Eurovision in Kyiv!!

Disappointed the juries only placed Belgium 9th in the final, but what's worse is they didn't rank her top ten in the semi's?!

How did the Irish jury not think the uk song wasn't worth even 1 point? It wasn't great but it wasn't that bad. I think when it didn't show in the initial points Graham thought they were going to get the 12. That was never going to happen but no points?

Only 10 couture get a vote tbf

    I agree.

    Just some of the tweets.
Graham Norton thought we were going to give them the 12.
So happy we gave Belgium their only 12 points. She deserves far more.

No, in fact, we vote for them every year. We still don't know how the Irish public voted yet (the 0 was from the five person national jury).

Moldova coming third is arguably the biggest shock of the night, don't think anyone saw that coming.

There is a 7 year old in this house that had them picked as his favorite since their SF, was delighted when they jumped up to 3rd with the televoting.

Wow, I'm honestly surprised by that. Now I havent paid attention to the Irish voting for a few years but I always had the idea that we never gave them any points and they gave us 12. Maybe that was just back in the GFA years

Really stupid move by Innocent and they have since deleted the tweet and apolgised.

I find it amazing that so many people from the UK would expect Ireland to vote for them as they think we are loyal to them or still part of their country and secondly that people don't realise it's a song contest.

They don't single all out all the other countries that didn't vote for them.

Sorry, no....that mad Irish priest stopped a man winning an Olympic Gold medal and was a national embarrassment.

That was a disgrace but yer man was fading and wouldn't have won gold even without that incident.

I didn't think anything of the French song before tonight but I thought it came across really well tonight. Surprised but please it got 10th in the televote, wouldn't have minded it getting 10th overall.

Diversity of sexual orientation but definitely not race. I don't remember seeing one black performer.

No more diverse them usual then! Sweden had black backing dancer.

It was as diverse as Midsomer Murders

In the press conference linked earlier in the thread Salvador was asked about diversity in this year's contest - he replied that yes there was plenty of musical diversity ! Maybe not the reply the journalist was looking for or perhaps Salvador neatly sidestepping the issue ?

I'm not being dramatic when I say this was without a doubt our worst entry into the contest - yes, even below Donna and Joe McCaul and Dustin!

Be fair. Nothing was, is or will ever be worse than Dustin. We were telling Europe that since we can't win the game anymore we'll puncture the ball. One of the lowest lows of Celtic Tiger arrogance and vulgarity. If I dislike losing so much that I can't do so with good grace I should stay away.
At least this time our guy tried.
