Why are you asking for personal information?

County of work doesn't constitute personal information.

However you're free not to answer.

Here, I googled it for you because I was bored:

Based on a analysis of the 2011 Place of Work
Census of Anonymised Records (POWCAR), a total
of 84,945 persons (aged 15+) were enumerated as
residing in Kildare and being ‘At Work’.
    • Of this population, 45.5% (14,085) were
employed within Kildare, 39.4% (33,493) were
employed outside Kildare, 8.2% (6,968) were classed
as Mobile workers and 6.8% (5,811) had a blank or
    uncodeable work destination.
    • The total number of residents in Kildare with
a fixed place of work is 72,166. Of this workforce,
46.4% (33,493) are classed as Outbound (Out of
County) Commuters. County Kildare has the 6th
highest rate of Outbound commuters with only
South Dublin, Fingal, DLR, Fingal and Meath having
    higher rates (Figure 172).
    • The main destination for Outbound
Commuters are Dublin City (14,085), South Dublin
    (10,044), Fingal (2,608), DLR (2,057), Meath (906),
    Wicklow (810), Laois (704), Carlow (685), Offaly
    (418) and the remainder of local authorities account
    for 1,176 commuters (Figure 173).

In Census 2011 I would have been coded as working in Limerick due to my employers registered address... it isn't the most reliable thing!

Because you really think a boards.ie poll will be much more reliable ... :D

    Those figures don't add up.

    That's because there's 4 figures and you've added two.

    45.5% = (14,085)

    39.4% = (33,493)

    ???????

See what you mean now - it's a typo. That's the figure for Dublin city. The % is accurate and was all I was looking at.

Does the census not ask where your normal place of work is? My company is based in Chicago but for the census I work in Dublin.

They ask for the full address of your "place of work"; it does have tick boxes for no fixed/work from home on the 2016 form - not sure if they were there on the 2011 form.

In theory I did actually have a desk, phone etc in Limerick. I never saw it!

Cheers, but that's all Kildare. I reckon around 91% in North Kildare don't work in North Kildare ;)
