whoops 10 days since my last run!

was forced out after work by my better half who was all dressed and ready when i got home so i didn't have a choice. ran 7.74km in 44mins so again not particularly fast but i really enjoyed it once i got going!

had a very bad pain in my thigh for the second half of the run but seems ok now- hope its not something that keeps happening!

Have you foam roller? Might be a good investment. Plenty of videos on youtube of how to use it to roll out the hamstrings, quads & ITB. Might help with the hip pain.

what sort of exercises would you recommend? never used a foam roller before!

Did my local parkrun this morning- finished in 28.45 which is about 30 seconds off my pb.
Really struggled with my motivation this morning- I just wanted to stop and walk and finished by telling myself 'don't you dare slow down'.
First time not to eat anything before I left and i think i missed the little bit of energy- also it was very warm and sunny (10 degrees) with no wind so I felt really warm!
Still really enjoyed it and glad i went.

I definitely need to run more during the week as I am only running 2 times a week at the moment!

    Ok best run ever!

Was playing around on mapmyrun and realised I have a perfect 10km loop so myself and partner said lets give it a go even if we end up walking some of it.

Set off and felt great did walk a couple of times but for no more then 5 seconds at a go but really just felt amazing!

I finished in 1.00.44 and partner about 20 seconds quicker! I have literally never felt so good I never thought i would EVER be able to run 10k!

If you look up you tube there's loads of videos. It's ot exercises so much as stretching out the muscles. I find it particularly good for the calf, hamstrings, quads and the itb. You could try same with a tennis ball too. Google is your best bet to get started.

Brilliant. Well done, brilliant to get to 10k and in such a good time as well, no stopping you now ;)

parkrun this morning- really didn't want to go and tried to convince myself it was a bad idea but then my partner out spoofed me so we had to go! she kept saying lets juts go home so i had to stay and run!

Very windy morning here in Brighton and this made for tough running conditions but really enjoyed the run! I stopped to walk once about half way and a lady stopped and said 'please don't slow down i have been using you as a pacer'- so i had no choice but to keep running! She really helped though as I wanted to keep her behind me!

Ended up getting a pb 28.08 so knocked 6 seconds off my last pb- these runs are definitely getting easier!

My partner knocked over a minute and a half off her pb and finished in 26.43 which is amazing- now i just need to beat her!

parkrun again this morning- its been so crazy i didn't get out for a run during the week.

It was a beautiful morning weather wise with no wind and really warm (10 degrees!) I just couldn't run. I stayed with a 28 minute pacer for a while but just mentally i wasn't ok- I kept trying to keep running I wasn't even tired but still found myself walking instead of running. It all was frustrating just mentally I wasn't in it!

Still managed 28.32 somehow so happy with that. I just need to sort out my brain!

Had a really hard swim session yesterday, mostly just different variations of legs only. Amounting to over 2,000m it was basically hell!

Went for a run today- well i call it a run but it was more of a quick walk 6.01min/km. My legs basically didn't want to move any quicker. It was really tough going... I really struggled getting to 6km but managed it without dying.

Hoping my legs move faster tomorrow!

My legs were definitely better today! Went out for a run with no intention of running far and ended up doing 10k!

Did stop to walk quite a few times but just wanted to keep going to prove i could do it.

Did exactly 10k in 1hour1min20sec which i was happy with considering I thought i was finished and checked my phone and realised I had to do another half a km to get to 10 k which almost killed me.

For the last couple of km I struggled so just started counting backwards from 100 and said to myself once I reach zero i can stop and when i got to zero I said to myself- I bet if you count down from 50 you will be finished.
Well all the mind games worked and I felt amazing and so proud of myself!

It did hurt a bit when i realised I still had to walk the dog but he didn't mind a shorter stroll!

I wonder how long it will take to run 10k in under 55mins....

So bad week running wise only just got out today after 10k 11 days ok but have moved back to Ireland and secured a job and all that jazz so not exactly been doing nothing!

Managed to loose 4lb this week bringing my weight down to 13stone 11.5lbs so 6 stone lost in exactly a year!

Ran 9.65km today in 1hour 2 mins but really really struggled running up the never ending Glenamuck Road hill! I amnt used to any hills at all so it was a shock to the legs alright but I made it.

Going to try do this loop a few times a week as it is challenging and hopefully will reduce my time- will try to add on another few hundred meters to get to 10k is well!

And again, bad week running wise!

But have been wall climbing 4 times so maybe that is making my muscles stronger.... maybe!

Went for a run today and loved it! Realised its a perfect 10k loop from my front door- ballyogan road, glenamuluck road, stepaside and back through sandyford! The hill didn't seem half as bad this time around and finished in 1hour2minutes44seconds which i am more then happy with considering how steep glenamuck road is!

Starting masters swimming in the morning so next run hopefully on Monday!

Just read your thread again, great work. April only around the corner, how are you feeling about the 10k?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 731 ✭✭✭ene

I am feeling confident that i will finish it but not expecting a great time! Really hoping to be able to go under a hour.

I need to have a look at the course- no idea if it is hilly or flat or anything like that!

So did my first 10k race on Sunday, the course in the Phoenix park was lovely and the weather was great! I am really annoyed at myself for not going on many runs the past couple of weeks but I am still really please with my time!
    01:00:23
Had hoped to go under the hour but at least that is the goal now for the next one!
The support from the other runners was amazing and I really appreciated the guy I was talking to in the last km, he really pushed me and we had a great sprint finish together!

Another bad week for running- had some big personal issues but hopefully sorted now!

Went wall climbing today and decided to run home- not far about 7km. Really felt it and not sure if it was after a tough climbing session or just bad fitness levels.

Took about 40 mins and average pace 5.42 km/min

Need to run more- promise myself
