Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Odds went from 33/1 to 3/10 in a very short space of time.

Apparently he turned down a move to Celtic because they were only offering him £2000 a week. You'd think at this stage in his career money wouldn't be important, especially considering he's worth over €40 million.

    London or Glasgow, tough choice.

He probably fancied a different challenge too hes been to Celtic already and if theyre offering more money its a no brainer.

I earn more than that and I sit behind a desk pulling the stomach off meself all day. He's Robbie fcuking Keane so worth much more. He'd get 50 grand a week in China

He's Robbie Keane, and his legs are gone.

I'm very surprised that any top club is considering him, its not a slight on his career but all things come to an end and I thought that time had come for Keane.

Celtic were never in for Keane! Not sure where that came from. Pointless move for both parties

Ba_tard, looking to do what he thinks is best for him & his family. Poor old Mr Gold and Ms Brady, who are paragons of virtue and honesty, require all of our sympathies.

The Hammers made about 15 million on the deal.

It's poor behaviour but to call him a parasite of a person when he puts his family above his club is a bit much tbh.

What a ridiculous comment! God forbid you ever need to accomodate your family by changing jobs or location!

Darikwa is a rb. I'd expect Brady will play on the wing. They have a lack of pace out wide . From an Ireland perspective I think its great news. It would be a fairly similar style to the Irish team and dyche has massively improved ward.

    HOW does Gibson do it???

He has managed only 100 odd appearances in 12 years!

Gibson's career has been a pity in some respects. Had some good moments but looking back in 5 years time, it will (or could be) all very forgettable which is crazy given the fact he has spent his career at 2 of Englands biggest teams.. He seems to have been around forever but achieved very little as a player in his own right.
He is still only 29 yet he seems past "it", but what he is "past", I don't know. Maybe past his potential? I just can't figure out what exactly is the enigma that is Darron Gibson.
Two top teams he has been part of and has made very little substantial impact.

Everton seemed like the perfect fit for him and he has had a few excellent performances but he just never got that run. Injuries were huge but confidence and maybe even hunger seems his biggest hurdles. It isn't as if he is lazy on the pitch either, lethargic maybe.

As I said at 29 a move like this could revitalise his career. Both at United and Everton he seemed to be the sort of player too proud to put in a transfer request as his first team opportunities dwindled.

I would absolutely love to see him succeed at Sunderland and pull off a miracle with them. A very good player who realistically should have been a stalwart in this Irish team had things played out differently

On Gibson, he has gotten nearly 30 caps for Ireland. I can't remember any good matches he played.
He is simply not as good as other midfielders Ireland have had during those years.

He also played a surprisingly lot of games for United before he left.

It would be interesting to see if he gets games at Sunderland, but I think they are heading for relegation.

Burnley wouldn't be signing Brady to play LB . I'd say they will want both players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

The fact that he was happy enough to pay back half a million quid and lose 25k a week in wages shows how much he wanted to get back to France and/or how unhappy he was in London.

It's been badly handled and Payet was at fault but the club can't be considered blameless.

Ulloa not threatening to go on strike if the club don't let him leave. Seems to be the thing to get a move. Odemwingie driving to Portsmouth (I think) was the best, then didn't get his move!

    Gibson is fond of socialising.
That's why Fergie got rid of him at United
That's why he's never nailed down a spot at Everton
    He's always 'injured'
He hit a cyclist while drink driving
    Enough said

Based on rumours around Sunderland in recent years he'll fit right in so. I don't know if what you say is true or not(no reason to doubt you either) but I'd be amazed if Moyes signed him not once but twice then

He is a very decent player, similar mould to Gary Cahill (and will probably have his England space within a year or two) and the fee means nothing in today's transfer market. So seems a logical transfer

He has been excellent the past season and a half. He has 18 months to go on his contract. There is a chance they could sell as he definetly won't renew his contract. However I still think its most likely they won't sell till the summer. This is their big chance to stay up and establish themselves and Keane is a big part of that.

I think Burnley will be safe regardless to be honest. I also think that Keane's value will only go up and he will attract interest in the Summer regardless. So I wouldn't be surprised if he stays byt equally wouldn't be surprised if he goes over the next 24 hours.

He won't be there next season though

He will only have 12 months left in the summer though so will go for less than he would now. He will definetly go in the summer. They should stay up from here but I think they should forego the extra few million they would get from Keane now to reduce the risk of them going down. They are quite capable of going on a big losing streak and getting sucked back into it as the home form will inevitably dip.
