Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can see Veratti at Chelsea next Summer for some reason. Conte obviously knows him and he would fit in well in that team.

He's worth about £50 million to Sunderland, if he leaves they are definitely getting relegated.

Ya thats it, hes got 11 of there 19 goals.

Without him theyre points total is probably in single figures, as long as he doenst press for a move, they wont sell him, theyed be stupid.

They are screwed if they sell him, he has 11 goals already this season.

Would be a good signing for WH and I'm sure he'd love to London. Sunderland are doomed if he leaves and I think Moyes would walk if they did sell him

I reckon he can still get that move at the end of the season.

Being 34 now is not the same as being 34 (in football terms at least) 10 years ago.

He's not even making the bench now,its fairly obvious Jose doesnt have him in his plans. He has something 10 minutes of playing time in the league so far.
I dont think an injury to either of those players will make much difference to his situation other than getting promoted to the bench.

Is he much more than a good solid player ?Looked good at Southampton but hasnt made the step up required at United at all.

Sorry my bad, I don't have twitter at work and presumed we were talking about Schweinsteiger.

Thought Brentford would have accepted a bid of ten million for him, unless they fancy themselves for promotion (9 points off the play offs atm) then I think it would be wise to sell him this window. He may never have such a hot streak again and I would think a club is more likely to pay over the odds in January.

Jose Fonte has handed in a transfer request.

Fonte would be a good signing for any top 4 club. Big loss for Southampton if he leaves.

Southampton always find great players, but losing Fonte this month and most likely van Dijk in the summer will be tough for them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭domrush

    Koeman should push for him

Probably United bound though, good experienced player for Jose.

Celtic close to signing Kouassi Eboue from FC Krasnodar for about £2.8m

Celtic will also reject West Ham bid of £20m for Moussa Dembele

West ham are looking increasingly desperate to sign a striker.. every club is going to look at that and be able hold out for an extra couple of million.

If the info is coming from themselves, which it seems to be as their has been multiple bids reported to different teams, it's a very stupid way to do business and they will end up paying even more over the odds

    Greatest transfer in our history.

Never played a game for us and we got almost £17,000,000 for him.

Best of all is that he turned out to be pretty much a bag of shyte.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him that. Fair enough, he was no Makélélé or Essien, but he was hardly Ali Dia either.

He probably would've worked out as a better transfer for United than some other players bought in the same era, like Liam Miller, Kleberson or Djemba-Djemba.

Seroiusly? He was considered for a couple of years to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the game. He played over 250 games for Chelsea including their Champion's league final win where he had a great game.

    Was closer to 400 apps.

Reports of around 140k, he was on around 85k at Chelsea.

He was no superstar but it's safe to say he would have played a huge number of games for United if he had stayed.A very good squad player for Chelsea and he would have been a better option than some of the players who got games for United in the same period.

    Alan smith defensive mid

    Rafael centre mid

    John o shea

    Liam miller

    Djemba

    Kieron richardson

Mikel would have played 100s of games for United

He'd probably still be at the club and playing regularly with Mourinho in charge now.

Or they would have played Rafael and a 46 year old Paul Scholes ahead of him, sold him for 500k and bought him back for 180 times that

West Ham failed with a £3m bid to sign Snodgrass. Assume it's Sigurdsson next in a spree of attempting to take the only good players away from relegation candidates.

There's positives and negatives to this deal. The first, and most obvious, is that it's the clearest indication yet of just how poorly Guardiola feels City's recruitment has been. That he must bring in a player, with no prior PL experience on loan, despite the money City have spent on centre backs in recent years, is both shocking and damning. Otamendi is a loose cannon, Stones is not the finished product, Kompany isn't to be relied upon, Mangala was surely more of a favour to the agent than a properly researched recruit, Kolarov is woeful no matter where he plays. The positives are that at least Badstuber knows Guardiola, he knows what Guardiola demands of his centre backs. The downside is no English experience, and he really is not the quickest player but mentally he is sharp.

With any luck this might mean never seeing Kolarov at centre back again.

That's true, I'm not particularly advocating for the transfer, simply saying that I can see the positives and negatives of the deal. On one hand he's a defender with no Premier League experience, whose pace is limited and whose injury record is an obvious cause for concern. On the plus side he's an intelligent player who is already accustomed to working within the Guardiola framework so won't need time to adjust to that. He might also be useful for Pep to use as an example for players like Stone and Otamendi to follow.
