Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's fast and physical but it's a game (thus far) that epitomises why English sides fail so often in Europe. There's no nuance or pattern to it at all.

And it typifies why the premier league is the most watched in the world, not boring ould ****e like most European games.

Terrible centre forward play by origi

I see Sturridge warming up. Is that line in his hair to make him go faster? Hopefully.

Not one world class player on the pitch by my reckoning.

Wijnaldum has such a lack of composure

Aggression and Pressure are equally valid tactics.

They are but they must be mixed with skill and composure. So far there's none of that and that's why teams from this country fail. I don't want to make this into a "English teams are bad in Europe" thread but if I'm Koeman or Klopp at half time I'd be furious with my players.

Liverpool playing the occasion so far, hopefully Everton will start to wilt. Coleman needs more marking

I know what you're trying to say I think, but surely it is Everton who are playing the occasion.

Ratings over success is your argument.

Getting a foot back into the game now, our fullbacks haven't been good on attack or defence though.

Origi looking very poor. Anyone on the bench?

In a derby? A high pressure gameplan can negate both those facets.

Though I doubt Everton can keep this intensity going all game.

It's a very entertaining game so far without any real clear cut chances. The pace that it's being played at is blistering, fantastic to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,932 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

    Origi's scuffed that so badly.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Best chance of the game there for Origi. Could have done better, but it was difficult. Better.

Lallana finding his feet now, when he plays well, we click.

Ratings over success is your argument.

You spout some mad amount of bollocks, but here, have some facts to shut you up.

"English sides fail so often in Europe" is your stance.

More English sides than any sides from any other country have won the European Cup - 5 (spain 2, Italy 3, German 3)

English sides are joint second in the most European ups of all time only behind Spain. (Spain 16, England and Italy 12, Germany 7)

So the simple bare facts of how English sides do in Europe completely compromises your opinion.

Toddle off there and talk nonsense elsewhere.

And how's that been going for English sides in the last 4-5 years? Anyway, I won't continue, my point is made and this brand of football does not lead to European success.

Coutinho clearly liverpool's most important player, big miss.

It's a fecking meat and potatoes local derby. It's not quality friendly!

    Two poor sides

Good boy, pathetic answer there with some arbitrary time frame you come up with the try to make an argument that is in reality pure and utter ****e.

More English teams have won the European cup than teams from any other country so clearly it hasn't held them back.

Why only use they last 4-5 years?

English football hasn't changed massively in that time.

I hope Klopp brings on Emre Can for 2nd half, much prefer him over Wijnaldum

If Daniel got it he'd be out for 6 months.

Funes Mori should be getting that on target

Clear shirt pull regardless of the tackle.

Because he just got owned and his bull**** more exposed than even normally so he reverts to coming up with arbitrary time frames.

Next he'll be saying we don't understand the intricacies of proper European football.

It councides nicely with the decline in the top English teams (eg. what you are watching this evening) and strides forward being made by Spanish (particularly) and German sides.

I just find i funny that in a thread containing mostly Liverpool fans you have this buck saying they wouldn't understand what it takes to win in Europe. Irony.

    Awful half of football.

I blame Sky for it all with there stupid build up titles for the matches.

Steklenburg wasnt great under no pressure. No need to punch that away.

Exciting match, helter skelter but lacking in a bit of quality in fairness.

Last victory was in 2005 so hardly a model of recent European success.

Milner should not be trusted with taking our free kicks, his crosses are brutal.
