Is there a need to prove separation?

My wife and I have been living in separate houses for two years. We got married in 2011. We have not done anything about our separation- e.g. separation agreements or judicial separation. Do we need to prove that we are separated before we apply for divorce?

Separate houses and separate bank accounts would be ample in the eyes of most judges. Any other proof is just gravy. Separate holidays and the likes.

Thanks Ken, if the divorce is by consent, does the court still need statement of means by both parties?

If both parties are happy with their financial position, and don't want claim on the other, why is a statement of means needed?

Something along the line of transparency. Also to evaluate if things like pension adjustment orders are required
