My only real gripe with the race is the amount of bollards & steel poles that have to avoided & that you spend a good bit of time hopping on/off footpaths, road running is a lot easier.

Jeez I'd forgotten about the bollards! I'm surprised nobody came a cropper on those, so many of them especially around UL. Could have done with putting cones on some of them.

last year running in a group (4 hr pacer)I found it the same. Think I remember someone nearly coming a cropper on one of the seats on the bridge in the UL sports campus. This year I didn't run with a pacer so I found it easier as our view ahead was clear. Whats next for everyone. Going to sign up for the marathon in Kildare(Kildare thoroughbred fathers day run 18th June)

    Hi Guys

Someone might kindly add 2:54:59 to the table for me.
Blew up with 4m to go. Found the area around the Gaelic Grounds tough going at that stage.
Still a PB and have learned some more about running this distance.
Found the support excellent, would have loved to stuck around but had to catch a flight in the afternoon.
Well done to all. Until the next one, run well!

I suppose all the bad days out must finally give way to one good one, and Sunday was the best of all for me. 11 min PB, and smashed the 3 hour mark at it too for the first time. Weather was great, Dermot the 3 hour pacer was spot on, the loop out to the Crescent and around was a pain in the hole again, and the end wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Strong for 90% of this, like I say I hate that Crescent out and back, but couldn't believe how good I felt for the last 5 miles. Managed to drop the hammer and churn out a negative split by a minute. Delighted so I am.

Well done Mike. Gave you a couple of shout outs on the way round. Surprised to hear you say how good you felt in the last 5 miles coz when I saw at mile 21 on the strand you looked under real pressure. I was delighted to see you in front of the 3 hour gang when I went up on the Ennis road. Boards.ie performance of the day :)

Take no notice of that, regardless of whether its 20 yards from the start or 20 yards from the end, I always look like I'm dying. :D:D:D

I suppose I'm just comparing it to most other marathons where I'm absolutely shagged in the last 5 miles and going backwards quickly. Sunday, I was able to keep it steady and going to the end.

Have you all checked out the official pictures?

Some half-decent ones of me for a change although nothing I'd pay the exorbitant price for - I normally look like an extra from the Walking Dead but not too bad this time around....even though I look to be in extreme pain (I wasn't really....but was going into the red zone slightly after 600m sprint for the finish).

There's also a couple of albums up on Facebook - 'ILoveLimerick' and 'The Galway Cow' are the best i've seen . Some nice shots again so worth a look if you're into that kind of thing

Ya I paid the exorbitant price for one of mine as it was my first marathon so thought it would be a nice memento to have.

I also got mine from the 'The Galway Cow'. He is only looking for people to make a €10 donation to Cope Galway for a copy of the original.
