Did my first ever timed 10k yesterday and did it in 54:32, heat towards the end was ridiculous. Hoping for slightly cooler weather for the 6 mile on Sunday!

Looking good so far. 11 degrees or so with a good chance of rain!

I'll take that in a heartbeat if it stays that way.

Done Limerick last year and found the last 6 miles tough. As this was my first marathon it would be hard to say it was a hilly course or not. I have done another 3 marathons since and have come back to limerick to see if it was actually hilly or I wasn't prepared enough. I found Dublin easier. From what I remember is there wasn't any big hills but the course was up and down for most of its length. While the course has changed the new route covers hills on last years course. Will soon find out on Sunday. Good luck to everyone running. Remember if you go up a hill you must come down.

I've decided to stick with the 'half' that I'm entered for. Ran 10 miles yesterday without significant reaction from my achilles. Going to 'wrap myself in cotton wool' this week and I should be ok. Have never done a really 'good' half marathon (have only done 3). But I should at least be able to break 1:50 this year, which would be a small improvement.

I'm sorry, but look some people just don't find it "hilly" like you. I'm not going to enter into a childish like argument with you. I don't plan on winning it just enjoying taking part and completing it.

Which side of town are you approaching from and what time will you be arriving? How close do you want to be to the start finish area?

In general if you're coming from Tipperary or Kerry side along Mulgrave Street would be good. If your coming from the Clare side somewhere like the Harveys Quay multistorey would be good although you need to pay for that whereas Mulgrave Street would be free.

    Hi Guys

Can anyone confirm that the bag drop is the same as last year at the Limerick Project School (opposite Bobby Byrnes).
There was no changing area last year either, so i presume its "come ready to roll".

    Ta

We are coming from the Clare side on the motorway, and should be there nice and early
    Thanks

I'm presuming if you're from Clare you know the city reasonably well. Take the Caherdavin exit off the motorway, come in to town via King Johns Castle and head to the Milkmarket/ Clare Street/ Mungret Street/ Ellen Street area, which would be the best area to find free street parking and not be too far from start/ finish area (10 mins walk max)

I'd park up at the top of Henry St or in around by Dolan's pub side. You'll be 10 mins walk from the start and finish lines. Plus you'll have ease of access back onto the motorway via the condell rd or the tunnel.
If you get in early enough you'll have your pick of spaces.

That's a much better suggestion than mine! Way more straightforward.

Open to correction but there's normally pay and display on some small sections (maybe up as far as Dolans) - but back in 2015, there was parking on both sides down the Dock Rd a good bit so I guess everyone turned a blind eye in terms of parking tickets etc.

I'm doing the 6 miler myself and starting to mildly panic about parking - the missus dropped me off on the Dock Rd last time out but not an option this time

There's parking at the train station. Think it's 2.50 for the stay and very close to the start. Will probably have to get there early though, which won't suit the 6 miler.

Pretty sure the train station went up to €3.50 or €4 a while ago!

Earlier in the thread it sounded like a straight shootout between Martin Doody of Limerick AC and oh_look_sheep, possibly of Boards AC...

    *not a dig at oh_look_sheep

I'm not 100% on the P&D on that road but if I'm ever going to a gig in Dolans I park my car on Windmill St and collect it after lunch the next day.
I have done this several times with no issue.
But have a look around when you are parking. As I said if you get in early enough you'll get you pick.
You might eveb get a spot opposite Henry St Garda station.
    Best of luck ;-)
