Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering Graduate moving to Vancouver

    Hi I'm a recently graduated Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineer hopefully moving to Vancouver in September. I have previous experience from my college work placement and my current job. I am just wondering how difficult it is to find an engineering job in Vancouver and what sort of job sites and companies i should be applying to?

    It is possible to find hardware engineering jobs in Vancouver, but the competition can be tough. There are a lot of very good engineers in Vancouver area, and some local graduates had internships in SpaceX and Tesla. 
    Before considering applying to jobs, I would well advise you to have a look at this site : recruitment agency that hires engineers . You will have a better idea of what kind of standard and experience is required. 
    The most realistic opportunities are in hardware-software integration, where you need to have some knowledge of a programming language like Assembler Language, C++ and Java. There are several companies that work in that area, like http://www.schneider-electric.ca/en/ and http://www.powertechlabs.com/home/ . Your best chances will be in small start-up companies that work on very niche products - like some guy in my local area who designs pigeon deterrent products : Andrew MacBain . 
    If you are really interested in working with mechanics, you can also do it in spare time with a bunch of folks that create robotic installations http://eatart.org/ , and get involved in maker spaces such as http://www.makerlabs.com/ .
