It's an early one.. ex demo?

I wonder is it one of the small battery ones.

A few of them are in the country

Sure at that price it must be. I sent an enquiry earlier asking that very question, will post up here if I get a reply. Sloppy from the Kia dealer to not be more specific about this Kia car but it looks like the ad was done up in haste, perhaps they don't have the car in yet. Not very professional either way...

Can you find out from the reg? 191C10519

They confirmed it's the 39kWh. Not such a bargain then.

How did you get the reg? It's not in the ad above. I also asked for the reg in my email, but they ignored that in their reply :p

Personally I'd prefer the CALB route, get 200Ah LiFePo4 cells, about €1.3k for 10kWh brand new, delivered to your door, including all taxes. Safest chemistry of them all, no cobalt in it, not possible to combust, very high cycle life with little degradation

This sounds good, any tutorials or something like that for this setup?

That 10kWh is total, isn't the usable amount less?

    First sub €30k eniro

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/kia-niro-ev-5dr-auto/27416086

    Joe Duffy Volvo Kia
    €29,900
2019 kia Eniro with 31k km.

NEVERMIND THIS IS NOT A BARGAIN, IT'S THE 39KWH BATTERY VERSION.... IE. $HITE

That's very cheeky of them, not a trace of a mention on the ad

Quite a few people could fall for that one considering there don't seem to be many 39kWh E-Niros out there.

I didn't even know they had the 39kWh one in Ireland back in 2019

I think they were demo cars, Not sure if any were actually sold direct, They were still listed when I was looking into mine but that disappeared by the time 2020 rolled round.

It was the April NCT that made me suggest that.. Anyone have the 2019 ev registrations handy?

I heard from a little birdie that that Tesla was sold for €24k. That's insane. Someone got themselves the EV bargain of 2021 there. The guts of 10k under market value. We might as well pause this thread until next year :p

Well wear to the new owner who will be enjoying zero total cost of ownership over the next few years :)

    That’s a stunning deal there.

Belongs in the renewable energy forum, several regulars over there have shown how to do it (with pics). If you are serious about setting something up, ask there and you shall get help!

LiFePo4 cells are nominal 3.2V, fully charged about 3.6V or a bit more

16 cells * 200Ah capacity * 3.6V = 11.52kWh capacity for the pack. About 90% of this is usable if you want to have a high enough cycle count without too much degradation, so about 10.4kWh usable

    It should have been :D

No appetite for dealing in cars now I can't bring them in myself from the UK anymore, but that would have made someone a very easy several grand profit alright.

What's a realistic range for an early Leaf with 9 bars? 60km?

You eyeing up that one on Facebook for €4.5k?

Your question isn't straightforward. What you would get from that car and what I would get aren't the same.

Are you talking motorway range or a shorter commute? Do you drive it like you stole it, or are you a more chilled out driver?

Do you enjoy toasting little boy racers off the line or do you take your time accelerating?

Personally I'd likely get 55km worst case, 80km on a chilled out Sunday afternoon in the summer.

Doesn’t the eNiro come in the smaller battery size too, we want to be keeping our eyes open for this, back to Leaf 24 or 30 days

My stuff for sale on Adverts inc. EDDI, hot water cylinder, roof rails...

yes but I'd say there is only a few of them in the country, - at the start of 2019.
So id be suspicious of anything 191 reg.

E Niros had a batch arrive and registered in July 19, then practically nothing until 2020.

Dealer still had the 39kwh one on their pricelist when i was looking in Nov '19 but it wasnt on the kia website at that stage.

Yep, I was looking at that one, really just as a local runaround.

I'd be happy to try and stretch out range so more of a chilled out driving style. Little or no motorway as I'd have an alternative for that.

In the fullness of time, I might think about range extension (Muxsan etc) but I'm not sure that it'd make sense to buy such an old car with that planned for the future when the same money, say €11/12k would buy a newer car with the same result and everything factory standard.

Then yes, it wouldn't be too hard to get the 60km out of it, maybe not quite as easy on a bad day in winter though, but from reading between the lines this car's range would suit you.

A lot of car for the money, you'll get €600 subsidy for a charge point too and then there is the near zero running costs, low tax and insurance, near zero maintenance costs and discount on tolls. What's not to like here :)

I think the ad is as honest as it can be.

They stated 60-80 which is right IMO.
Maybe more in summer with careful driving.

I'd love to buy that as a project, get it fixed and add the muxsan extension pack.

The report in the photos seem to indicate a fault in the battery pack

If you could get a Leaf40 pack and swap it in it might fix the problem and you can sell the old cells for some cash

All in all, could get a 200km EV for under €10k all told

There are two other 9 bar 2011 cars asking €4500 at the moment (I'm guessing that that one is a 9 bar car too). That car has another potential issue, going by the printed report. But you're right - for the right price combined with the appropriate personal skills it'd be an interesting buy.

    Was thinking exactly the same!

There are a few independent EV repair specialists in the UK now who could probably fix this up for a lot less, wonder how long before someone opens one here.

Might be worth making a call to the lads in Wicklow, who have taken on the Muxsan franchise. They might have a look at it.

The other issue is that they couldn't test the PTC heater since it needs power from the HV battery. So it's probably not broken, they just couldn't test it

There's definitely easier options out there, but as a fixer upper it'd be a bit of fun

PTC heater is a plug and play replacement surely? On a petrol 1500 project car I'd tackle that myself so I'd give it a go here too.
