laptop not picking up phone

    got an acer i3 laptop that use to automatically pick up my smartphone when i plugged into the usb port but now nothing happens and now i have to connect it into usb port of other laptop which picks it up all the time without fail

    can anyone advise please

    Have you tried all USB ports on the laptop? There can sometimes be problems with USB3 ports picking them up, these are recogniseable from being blue in colour at the connection point.

    What operating system are you running?
    Did you install any programs, make any changes recently that might hint at why it's no longer picking it up?
    Have you tried to (re)install the drivers for your make / model of phone?
