For a week - get out of Dublin and let them see some of the west? Or Wicklow at least?

Old stuff tends to go down well with Americans. St. Michans. Newgrange. The Casino. Kilmainham Gaol. The gold gear in the National Museum in town. The Book of Kells and the long library. Lots of genuinely decent historical activities for visitors. Consider a spin out on the Dublin Bay tour boat, or, at a minimum a trip out to Howth to eat seafood and do a bit of a cliff walk?

Botanic gardens. Howth for lunch and a walk around the hill. Rent bikes and do the phoenix park. Drive down to the Japanese gardens and the national stud in kildare. Malahide castle. Royal hospital. Collins barracks. Johnny Foxes. Glendalough. Skerries. Trim castle. The viking splash. St. Patrick's cathedral. I'm sure others will be along shortly to add loads more. (Hint; They don't have any so they love the old historic stuff)

Kilmainham Jail would be my first stop.. Collin Barracks, tbh I was disappointed.. A trip out of Howth is lovely, lunch in just about anywhere in Howth won't be disappointing ~ my fav is The Bloody Stream.

Someone suggested Malahide Castle, its an expensive kip but sure Americans love castles and the trails in the park are lovely to walk.

If you're driving, or you can do it via the DART then a trip from Bray to Howth, and onto Malahide is beautiful. Although the more stunning views start in Malahide where you're looking across the bay at Howth, get out of the car at Portmarnock's Valet Strand for a few photos before heading into Howth.

A visit to Glassnevin Cemetery and a grave tour is amazing, esp if you go after the Kilmainham tour but bear in mind that the rebel leaders are buried in Arbour Hill but the stories on the Glasnevin tour is billiant.

Drive the military road through sally gap down to glendalough. The weather will have it looking stunning assuming the road is passible. Optional stop offs at the hellfire and the two viewing points

St Michan's church is a good 'un for Americans I think.
