Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking for a poodle puppy. Help!

My sister was just promised a dog for Christmas from our father. He will only allow a poodle into our house as we are all quite allergic to dogs who shed heavily. He also thinks poodles are the most intelligent dogs. (I don't know the truth of any of this, but his decision will not be swayed.)

What I want to know is where we could find a puppy poodle. Adopting an abandoned dog would be ideal, but I understand it would be next to impossible to find a poodle puppy up for adoption. One option we were considering was to travel to the UK and bring a puppy back home over the ferry. Is this even legal? There are no poodle puppies available in Ireland as far as I know. We have looked everywhere and any help would be much appreciated!

    What type of poodle?

Have you contacted the poodle club via the IKC? http://www.ikc.ie/dog-ownership/breed-and-society-contacts/

If you go to the UK and buy one, you can't bring it back to Ireland until it is 15 weeks old, as they have to have the rabies vaccination, which cannot be given before 12 weeks, and then wait 3 weeks before the dog can travel.

It's a bad time of year to be looking for a puppy as most reputable breeders wouldn't have litters available around this time. Maybe get in contact with the breed club and see if you can get on a waiting list for the next available pups?

A lot of rescues don't rehome at this time of year too. Maybe wait a month or two.
