Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Changing poop schedule

Is it possible to change a poop schedule of a dog.
Brendan goes 10hrs after a meal, you can set you clock by it. but it means that he goes for a long stretch during the day without a meal. Normal meals would be at 6am, 12 and 10pm and I have no problem feeding him at those hours but I feel he would prefer to eat around 6pm
There is also the issue that he struggles to hold it in at night and by changing his meals this has stopped.

    How old is Brendan?

    Feeding 3 times a day, I'd guess a pup?

Most adult dogs get fed twice daily. We feed at 8am and 2pm - but our dogs breeder feeds their huskies once a day.

So, yes... I'd imagine you can change poop times depending on feeds.

Could you get a dog flap? That way he can just go whenever he wants.

We did that coz my lady kept waking up at 2am to go. And so did our dog.

Hes 8 months, I don't think he's ready to move to 2 times a day yet, getting him to go from midday to 8pm is a bit of a struggle but we have increased his meals a bit and it seems to be helping.
As for the door, I am in negotiations with the wife, we have 2 options, put a door in the utility room but she doesn't want to give him free access to that room (I have a plan in place to build an enclosed area in there that would give him access to a door) or put a door in our glass patio door, there's a bit of a cost to that I think.

Ah that's the end of that then.

I would feed puppies twice a day at 8 mths. They don't need 3 feeds a day at 8 mths unless they are underweight. Most puppies will always be ready for food if you let them!

Our adult large breed is fed twice a day & the terriers once a day but with treats given at night.

What are you feeding him? At 8 months I'd be expecting a pup to sleep all night without needing to go to the loo?

He's on a mixture of nutoro, kibble and homemade raw. We are surprised that he doesn't get through the night. He used to, up until maybe 6 months old and once we changed the time of his last meal he hasn't gone since.

We tried Nuturo and there was a poo explosion behind the front door - high drama as a parcel was expect any minute!! :pac:
