Moving Apt and Closing Account - Requirements

    Hi, 

    I am moving apartment soon and will be closing my Electric Ireland account.

    Can you outline whats required to complete this?

    Hi Lucky,

    Thank you for getting in touch.

    We do not need advance notice in order to close your Electric Ireland account. This can be done on the day, or shortly thereafter, as long as all of the required information is provided.

    Once you leave the property, this can be completed by contacting us here on Boards, via email on service@electricireland.ie or over the phone on 1850 372 372.

    In order for us to close your account, we will need you to send us a private message with the following details:
    • Your full name
    • Your account number for the property you are moving out of
    • Your forwarding address for the closing bill
    • The first line of the address you are leaving
    • Your contact number or date of birth
    • Confirmation you are the account holder (a sentence stating this is sufficient)
    • Name and contact number of the person or company responsible for the property

    You will also need to take a meter reading on the day that you leave. If you are not sure how to get this, you can find more information relating to how to read your electricity and gas meters on our website.
