It's more than that. There are better young, english CB's around than him at the moment available for a fraction of the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,155 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

An early goal like that when we're looking to play on the counter is perfect, City have to come at us now and we can just go for the breaks.

This is a good test now. We aren't under massive pressure and we have a goal lead at home.

A back 4 with Hendo, Can and Wij ahead of them and City will no doubt have a go. Be great to see us pick them off on the counter and keep a clean sheet.

If not, no harm done in the greater scheme of things.

Never mind younger, there are alot of better English CBs , period.

Complete change of tactics today, maybe it's how the cookie has crumbled today.
We are not pressing or exposing ourselves to the opposition today.

It's as if we're beaten before we get off the coach.

There isn't. And his potential is through the roof, the narrative that he's awful is standard backlash against any English youngster. The idea that a footballer needs to develop... madness.

    Sterling went for goal there.

Otamendi and Stones must be the worse CB pairing at any of the top 6 clubs .

Some ball and some touch even if offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,155 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

How many times was Firmino fouled there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,912 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

    5 fouls on Firmino there
At anytime he could of cashed in one

City really can't afford to be playing Yaya 'The Saunterer' Toure.

Disagree here. Stones has been poor for a while now, even last season he was average at best. The Chelsea nonsense affected him I think.

Also, he cost 50m, that's hardly 'developing player' money. City should've went for a solid CB for half the price; Ashley Williams, Stones' replacement, would've been perfect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

You know youre in for a good night when Mignolet is the better of the 2 GKs on show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,912 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Could of dummied that shot. Stones played his cards early.
Could of continued with ball after the dummy shot, what I would have done.

Madness... have you seen Everton this season? 50m is pocket change for City. They're buying a guy they think can develop into a top level player. Williams is not that player. If Stones was spanish and playing for Real there wouldn't be this narrative. People would just expect some growing pains. He's still incredibly young for a centerhalf.

Otamendi is subconciously covering for Stones.

Far from that easy but Firmino would expect to take it.

Awful from firmino looked on a plate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

The thing about Stones though is at no point for Everton or City yet, has he looked like hes worth even half the 50m they spent on him.

At least with Sterling he had a great 18months for Liverpool so his price tag isnt as bad but Stones badly needs a strong commanding CB next to him to learn from. Otamendi and Kolarov are not going to help him at all and Kompany is a sick note these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,898 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Good effort. Not sure if he shouldn't have taken it a touch further

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,155 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Hardly an easy take for Firmino that

  • Where is stones heading that

Cannot see how this stays only 1-0

Is that 3 times Aguero has wandered offside?
