    Hi all,
Glued to the telly now! Over the last few months I've been getting more and more fond of darts- mainly due to the local having darts nights on many nights when we were there.
So I went out and got this from Argos...

I'm keen to get practising once I get it put up (female so it's still resting in the box until I bribe someone to do it for me!) :)
The dartboard I got doesn't seem to have too many bad reviews but the darts supplied with it seem very light, even to me and I know fcuk all about them. :)
There's a lot of dart sets on Argos but I am not sure what is a good beginner set for me? Can anyone recommend one from there? I am picking Argos because it's handy-I don't want to go into a sports shop and be bamboozled with so much choice...
    Any advice much appreciated lads

    Hi, newbie!

Yes, that's certainly a very nice board for your first ever board, no problems there. From experience the darts sets that come with a board are usually crappy light things alright, so you're probably right in your assumption.

It is hard to recommend a set of darts to you though, it's normally personal preference and how the darts actually feels in your hand and how you grip the dart, you may also prefer lighter or heavy darts again it's tough to know, no right or wrong. I'd just go cheap for starters and maybe get two sets of differing weights and see what you fancy before maybe investing in a better set, sorry I can't be of more help.

Edit : I would recommend getting one of these, it's good value imo and always handy to have.

Thanks for the reply, sure I haven't a clue what I'm looking for. I just know the darts supplied feel too lightweight in my hand

That's what I'm saying to you, it would be trial and error to see what you like, do you know anyone you could get a lend of darts off to try out before you buy?

For a basic starter set, I like the look of either of these....

Honestly if you've never played before it probably won't matter too much, just get used to playing for starters and then when you improve you can upgrade the darts!

Thanks a million. I'm just eager to get started. I'm probably remembering my uncle who used to play darts and I'd be plaguing him for a go all the time, just remember they felt really solid.
Anyway, need to get board up first and foremost ! :)

Yes, first things first get the board up and get chucking them! Prepare to put a few holes in the wall, that's part and parcel of it, happens to the best of us! Enjoy yourself and good luck, let us know how you're getting on when you get going.

Agree with Potential Underachiever's advice there. A budget set of darts and the accessory pack so you can experiment with different length stems to find what suits you best.

Avoid brass darts though - go with tungsten. Tungsten are heavier and are balanced. Brass darts can be woefully unbalanced and will teach you nothing about what barrel shape or length will suit your throw.
