Welcome to the Official Draft Picks Thread for 2017. This year is the 10th Annual PW Boards.ie Draft

The aim of this game is to create a fantasy roster over the next few weeks and months, and then put together a fantasy card in which you describe how you'd book the line-up you have assembled.

This is the thread in which the 19/20 lucky members who signed up will make their draft picks. While the rules are all listed below, I'd like to remind people that most rounds will be random, though some will see picks organized based on particular factors (order of the last round, overall average order, etc).

Also if said spots are full, throw your name on anyway so you can be on the reserve list. We always seem to have 1 or 2 people who for whatever reason cant continue, so throw your name down if you fancy it.

NOTE: As an act of courtesy, we ask that after a player has made their pick for the draft, they check the list to see who is next and send them a friendly PM reminder, so as to keep things flowing smoothly.

THE RULES

The rules are as follows (It's advised new players read over these rules, but are also highly encouraged to ask questions if there is any confusion. Myself and Bounty hunter can answer any query so pop us a Private Message if you need any help!).

Draft Order :
The order people make their picks is decided at random, via a completely unbiased List Randomizer website. The order of certain rounds may not be random and will be made clear before said rounds.

World Titles:
World titles, as defined in the game, are considered as the following:
WWE World Title, WWE Universal Title, World Heavyweight Title/WCW (aka The Big Gold one), TNA, NWA and IWGP world championship(the majot title in NJPW)

(Note: For the benefit of the game as a whole and to reflect the realistic loss in prestige of the NWA Title, only holders of the NWA Title up until the WCW World Championship came into use will be regarded as World Champions for the purposes of the game. )

Tag Teams:
Tag Teams come as a package so for example if you want the DIY , you don'y have to pick Johnny Gargano in one round and Tommaso Ciampa in another. Both can be picked up together in one pick. The rules for tag teams are as follows:

- Cannot have a world champion in them ie You can't draft The Rockers as a tag team, as Shawn Michaels has had held a World Championship (World Championships are defined above so read carefully)
- Must have tagged together for at least 3 months (if in doubt, ask myself or BH)
- Inter gender tag teams not allowed
- Members of factions, ie Saturn and Malenko, are not deemed valid picks as they are not classed as legit tag teams under the criteria for the game.
- 5 tag teams is the maximum amount of teams for each roster



Eligible Promotions:
WWE, TNA, ROH, NJPW, anything historically going under the NWA banner.

Time Frame:
No professional debuts pre 1970 are eligible. There will be a round for pre 1970 picks. There will also be a celeb round where celebs who have appeared on wrestling TV are elibible for picks.

- To determine wrestler debuts we will use Wikipedia as in previous years. If you feel the Wikipedia entry is incorrect you can PM me or one of the mods to state your case.

- people who would be considerd Celebs more so than wrestlers are only eligable to be drafted in the special celeb round and not in any other round

- Dark matches and try out matches will not be valid cases this year for selecting a wrestler.

- Managers and female wrestlers are eligible if people wish to pick them. Commentators have not been included in recent years.

Trades:
Trades are allowed from a certain round (will be announced) onwards but you are limited it 5 trades each. When a trade occurs it's superstars your trading, not goes in the draft, so you must be able to make the draft pick before they are eligable to be drafted, i.e all normal rules such as 5 tag team picks limit are still in effect.

Trades may be vetoed by those running the game in order to ensure a fair balance is maintained. However, this is extremely unlikely to occur for the vast majority of trades, and will only be discussed in situations where there is suspicion of other matters influencing the game.

Stip rounds:
We've got a few stipulation rounds lined up as usual. Make sure to read each carefully, and if you're unsure what you're meant to do, ask in the discussion thread and verify your pick with an organizer. Stip rounds will alter who you can and can't pick for a particular round.

Missed Picks
The draft runs under a 24 Hour rule. In other words, you have 24 hours to make your pick from the moment the person prior to you has made theirs. This will be enforced so as not to slow down the game. If you think you are going to miss your window, PM someone a list of who you'd like and they can make your pick for you. Should you miss your window, your pick will be pushed back to the end of that round.

Note - Rules may be amended during the contest to help run the game smoother if it's felt this is necessary but we will aim to ensure everyone is kept up to date if this has to happen

Yes thats right, after Al Bundy and his Crew took over the draft last year, we got bombarded with offers from Celebrities to host the draft. We had to turn away Father Ted and we had to tell Alan Partridge to sod off, because we couldn't turn down the offer from the people of Springfield. We are having a Simpsons Themed Draft this year.

What that means is that each Stip Round will be indirectly influenced by the little yellow fella's from Springfield. So release the hounds....Its draft time baby!

The question you are all asking is "Will this make the draft better?"

ROUND 1

Homer recently found the old Mr Sparkle Video in his video library and has become obsessed with all things Japanese and so he picks a Stipulation that fits his current mood.

What that means for this round is that all draft picks in round 1 will have to have had at least one match for NJPW at one point during their lives. Once your pick has wrestled at at least one show for New Japan Pro Wrestling, they will be eligible.

But wait.... its the 10th annual draft, its a big deal and a special milestone, so to make things a little spicier..........

Grandpa Simpson, Jasper and other Senoir Citizens have arrived and they wanna meddle. They reckon Wrestling was better in their day when Jumping Jack Lalane was knocking lumps out of Cecil Warbucks and the old timers want things back to the their generation represented in round 1.

So what that means is that the Pre 1970 rule is not in affect this round. Wrestlers chosen in this round can have debuted at any time, meaning we've got a raft of older main-eventers now available for selection.

Be aware, round 2 will be a Reverse Order Round meaning, if you draw number 1 this round, you will automatically draw 20th in the round 2 and pick number 20 will draw first next round, with 19th this round picking second and so on....

If no one spot, pick 19th this round will draw first next round.

Also be aware the next round will also have a Stipulation attached

ROUND 2

Patty and Selma are about and they believe they are the Greatest Team of All Time. They run the DMV like its their own personal stomping gtound and no one can touch them. They also dominate poor Homer countless times. So with them each being part of a well oiled team, they want to see people of similar standing drafted in this round, so....

This round, choices will only be eligible if they held a WWF/WWE tag team title at one point in their career. eg Brock Lesnar wouldnt be eligible as he was never a tag champion, however Stone Cold would be as he held tag gold on more than one occasion. For the Stip any offical WWE or WWF tag team title (WWF tag team titles, WWE tag titles, WWE world tag titles, Raw/Smackdown Tag titles will be consider a WWE tag Title. NXT tag titles, or any other developmental tag title will not be classed as a Tag team Title, nor will any tag title from any outside promotion (NWA,WCW etc)
