Hope a sh*t load of tag teams induct him. Holla holla!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,555 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I can see his speech being long and getting mixed up a lot, unless he writes it down.
    Doom to induct?

Maybe not this year, but could Chavo Sr. go in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

I think Chavo Snr was involved in lawsuit against WWE, so maybe not.

Good to see, it's nice when someone who actually deserves a spot goes in.

    Beth Phoenix
    the newest inductee.

I strongly disagree with this, if anyone should've gone in, it should've been Chyna.

Well, we had some great names going in this year, there had to be at least one that doesn't deserve it eventually.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Blue_Dabadee

They are starting to get into the forgotten era of divas division (circa 2007-2015) with Hall of Fame.

I strongly disagree also. Sure, they'd be as well sticking Kelly Kelly in as well now.

Well that's scratching the bottom of the barrel, no offence to Kelly Kelly or anything..

Very cynical I know but I wonder is her now being Mrs.Edge push this a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,516 ✭✭✭✭briany

I notice Luna's long overdue a posthumous induction.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I really like Beth. And if this was 10 years down the line, I could accept the reasoning. But her career is way to fresh in the mind, and wasn't THAT impressive compared to some others who are in it, and some who aren't.

    Yes think the same

I would have thought the likes of Ivory, Victoria or even Stacey or Torrie (I know both not known for their wrestling ability in ring) would go in before Beth

I can't remember Beth for anything other than the comedy stuff with Santino.

Oh yes Glamarella :P was she also another a notch of Punk?

She also was in the royal rumble

I knew about Lita and obviously AJ, didn't know Beth was another one.

Forgot about her Rumble appearance. A few women have done that now with her, Chyna and Kharma.

In fairness that good comedy stuff.

I have no problem with Beth going in at all. She deserves it when you look at the roster she had to work with. I mean she should get in just for having to try and make kelly kelly look somewhat competent in the ring.

Beth was a good wrestler when in that era they weren't thick on the ground.

I like Beth and I don't deny that she does belong in there but not this soon

Ah but she did eliminate Khali in the rumble to be fair

I think most people like Beth and most people also would generally have no problem with her heading into the HOF but I'd say the general feeling is that 1 or 2 others primarily Chyna should be in before her.

Miss Elizabeth hasn't gone in yet has she? Her and Chyna would have been this and next year for me but then again WWE probably prefer to induct living people.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I'd add Ivory, Molly Holly and Sable to that list as well.

    There was Maria too.

On the topic of Beth, it's a little bit surprising. No reason not to put her in but at the same time there's no overwhelming reason to put her in.

Seriously the only reason Beth is getting in now is she is Mrs Edge.

There are so many more deserving women who should be going in before Beth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

Seems like a strong reaction - Beth was their best worker in a bad period for women's wrestling and pretty much dominated the division for a couple of years. They want one woman to go in every year and it was never, ever, ever, ever going to be Chyna so she probably shouldn't be factored into the conversation too much.

Personally I wouldn't have a woman in there just to fulfil a quota but she's probably more deserving than anyone else mentioned.

This looks like a great class. I'm still considering going.

Chyna was a huge star and 100 percent deserves a place in the HOF but i think its hard to put her in at the minute as she threw plenty of accusations towards hhh and if they put her in now it might seem disingenuous as there only putting her in cause she died. think they will be better holding off for a few years then putting her in.

i dont get the big backlash that is happening against beth as she was a very good wrestler in a time that wwe didnt give a crap about womens wrestling and had to put up with some terrible wrestlers to go against.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,434 ✭✭✭Robsweezie

im puzzled by this, she doesnt appear to me an obvious choice. yeah she had a good career in wwe, but hall of fame material? I would have put in some of the classic divas like sable etc.

when i think of hall of fame i think of hogan, bret hart.no disrespect to beth phoenix, but this seems like a bit of a random choice, as well as premature.

looking at this years list with the likes of teddy long in there, they must be aiming toward putting modern day superstars in there as opposed to classics from past eras (70's and 80's)

I'm surprised Sable hasn't been given give a place considering Lesnar is under contract now at the moment.

I'd prefer Chyna to go in then to ever see sable to go in. I'd prefer WWE to induct women who actually tried to wrestle and cared about it. Sable might have "wrestled" but there are better women who made a better impact on the business. Victoria, ivory, Molly holly, Gail Kim should all get in.

I'd love to see Luna go in in the near future

notable info on Beth's induction [ from wiki ] :
Her introduction will make her the youngest inductee of all time at age 36, but also the first inductee to be born in the 80s, and the quickest female to be inducted after her retirement, which happened five years prior. Additionally, she and her husband Edge will become the first real-life couple to both be inducted.

Punk's ladies could have their own wing in WWE HOF :P

I suppose that Phoenix's induction reminds us that life is not a strict meritocracy. Before even looking at achievements, I think the WWE says, "Who are we on good terms with? Who won't embarrass us? Who isn't likely to die a premature death?"

i think youve nailed it there.

demolition for example should be in but they are suing wwe and i think one of them has sued on a few different occasions so they wont be getting in anytime soon.

Agreed. Beth was a leader of a certain generation of women's wrestling. It may not have been the best generation, but the argument for her case still stands.

I think people have to be a bit more realistic when mentioning names like Chyna (for obvious reasons) and Elizabeth (we don't even know if her family would be willing to accept).

That's another point about the posthumous inductions. The person being inducted might/probably was comfortable speaking to some degree but their family might not be.

Rick rude will be inducted into the 2017 HOF by Ricky the dragon steamboat. It's about damn time.

With the exception of Beth, this is a very strong Hall of Fame line-up this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭bobby_says_hi

If they were going to induct a lady from that era, I'd say Michelle McCool is more deserving. She's been officially retired for six years and did accomplish quite a lot in her time. First Divas' Champion, first woman to hold both that and the Women's title, later unified both titles, first women's tables match in WWE, one of the first female pros in NXT and one of the leading faces of the division. Far better than she was ever given credit for by fans. But Beth was a great worker and did have a pretty good career, I just think it's too premature for her to go in, since she seems as if she could easily come back for another run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Blue_Dabadee

Beth Phoenix was workhorse of divas division during her time, but she was not really memorable to be honest.

McCool only got to do those things as she is going with the undertaker

Her run with Chucky P was amazing. ;)
The only memorable storyline she had was that piggie james crap. Don't remember any match she had or anything but thinking Laycool were a blatant copy of the Beautiful People.

Do you want to tell Brock to play the loving husband to the cameras? I'd say anything making him play a role at HoF is off the cards
