Solder repair in Dublin?

I had no idea where to put this, so mods please move if you think there's a more appropriate place for it.

Anyone know somewhere that would do a really small solder repair in Dublin (8 preferably, but anywhere really)

It's a bedside lamp with a metal/glass shade, and the fitting that holds the shade onto the base has broken and needs to be re-attached.

I cannot for the life of me think of where to even begin asking!

It's so small a job that I could probably do it myself, but I don't have the necessary equipment.

    Thanks in advance!

Without seeing a pic I'd guess that is unlikely to take electrical solder.

Ideally you would probably need to find a small engineering workshop who might braze it.

It might be easier though to use an epoxy glue to join it.

    Or maybe sugru? https://sugru.com

Sugru looks like a great shout!

I wasn't necessarily thinking electrical solder - just as it's an electric lamp I wound up asking in here! Although it's not an electrical problem/fix.

I'll look into that sugru further - looks like mighty useful stuff to have around the place, regardless :D

    Just to close this off.....

Got some of that Sugru stuff, and effected a repair myself. At a tenner (with two packs left over, plus a half one that may or may not last now it's been opened), it was better value than any repair man!

Doesn't feel very robust though, so I've a feeling I may be using the rest of the open pack soon enough to do it again! Still, it's fixed for now.....

Thanks brightspark for the suggestion, and the offer of assistance from Steve! :)

Depending on the setup, which can't be seen without pics, sometimes a few wrappings of thread can help hold parts together before glue or adhesive is added over it. The thread then strengthens the fix when the glue sets.

Pics below - I finally figured out how to post them!

I get the string idea, but it's such a tiny joint area that I'm not sure that it would work - I just put a blob of the glue onto the wire and stuck the nut on top - it definitely won't survive a fall or even a good knock, but it's holding together for the moment!

Thanks again for the suggestion - I'll bear it in mind for any future jobs :)
