    On the other hand I have seen travellers call settled people 'cakes' 'farmers' 'posh boy/girl'. I am sure alot of people on this thread experienced this in school or on a night out

    I don't really get the point she was trying to make about them being told by academics who they are and where they come from.

    From what I gather, travellers love oral history in particular and take pride in how ethnic they are as a people.

    I thought despite her nervousness Eileen came across well. I feel all these interviews are too short and that Mary and Zak and Eileen could easily have spoken another 10 minutes.

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
