Just curious, if a broker was doing something untoward, who would a client go to to seek redress. Solicitors have the Law Society, who do the brokers have?

    Not asking for me.

If you wish to complain about a mortgage broker, you would make it to the FInancial Services Ombudsman. The Central Bank of Ireland regulates mortgage intermediaries and has a whistleblowing desk. However, they usually do not take complaints from members of the public so the Ombudsman would be your first port of call.

When dealing with a Broker who are regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland you should be issued with a copy of their Terms of Business and the complaints policy is set out in this document. You must make complaint to Broker first and if not resolved to your satisfaction you can refer to Ombudsman who's contact details should be in the Terms of Business.
