iPad not charging

Hi there,

Anyone care to hazard a guess as to why this is so. I bought it for my Mam in 2012. She was away for a few days and it wasn't charged while she was gone. The battery is now flat and won't recognise either of the chargers that she has.
I tried to reboot it/ shut it down but it won't power off either.
I don't know what kind of life expectancy these things have and my capabilities don't really expand beyond googling the issue and now you guys.
Any bit of guidance or guesses would be welcome.

theres a program there to allow charging an ipad from a pc,
play a cd or dvd/ video on the pc to stop it going into low power mode,
while charging,
or browse the web on it,
you can buy a usb to ipad cable in dealz shop for 2euro.


“AiCharger_V10006_XpVistaWin7.zip” and it should unzip. In the resulting folder “V1.00.06” open “Setup.exe” to start installation. Simply confirm all the steps and once installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Click “Restart Now” or similar.

i,m gonna try this program on my laptop as my android tablet does not charge at all
even though i bought a new charger.
What nodel is it,
ipad 16 gig,
ipad2 etc

install that program, rebbot your pc.
wait 4minutes plug in the ipad into a usb port.
Theres 2 ipad cables in dealz ,one for modern ipad and one for older models ,with the wide cable.

the newer ipad cable called lightning is about 1/2 to1/4 inch wide.
