im sick of hearing about it and it hasnt even started yet.
its a total waste of time . the subject is so strong that people have their opinions on it and are very unlikely to change them.

why cant we just have one week of facts and then a referendum.

Yeah. I'm sick of it too.
Might start a thread about it.

Because that would be the sensible thing to do but the public and politicians are largely doltish.

We'll have months and months of "facts" before the week of facts.

I'm sure it won't be long before I'm fed up hearing from the extreme wing of the Catholic Church, pretending that they care about children.

The only one that truly matters is the fire brigade. Those PC brigade folks wouldn't put out a fire in a fit.

You're so sick of hearing about it that you went on to boards and started a thread about it, excellent.

The mods could just abort this thread by closing it, and we will hear less about abortion.

This group meeting to discuss abortion will come to nothing.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Shooter McGavin blew a 4 stroke lead to give Happy Gilmore the championship.

So you want to terminate the debate, hey?
    Ha Ha Ha Ha............sorry.

Can we include a debate about legalizing weed too? Kill 2 unborn children with the one stone.

A total waste of time!? If you're pregnant you de facto become a ward of the state because you cannot make your own decisions regarding what goes on in your own body. Hardly a waste of time unless you want to permit a regime of forced labour.

Wrt people "unlikely to change opinions": the whole point of politics is to win arguments and change people's opinions ie. over to your side.

The facts are well known: abortions in places where abortion is available are overwhelmingly performed early on and often where someone has already had children. Also, laws do not and have not prevented abortions as people travel or procure medical abortions ie. abortifacients through unofficial channels.

A referendum on the 8th amendment is long overdue.

We wouldn't have to be bored about it if we just let women make their own choices. It's none of anybody's business what a woman does with her body. It's nobody's business whatsoever except her own.

Oh no. The unthinkable has happened: This has become a debate about abortion.

I refuse to accept that people are called shooter and happy. Are they fairytale dwarves?

Look we are doing what any sensible country would do. We had a long running subtle campaign through the media. Then we had a general election to elect representatives to sort out these kind of issues. They have compiled a citizens assembly to discuss the issues and make a recomendation on whether the law should be changed. Then the politicians will go back and decide if they can make the change via legislation or whether we need a referendum. Then the people may or may not have their say.

    It's a perfectly straightforward approach.

Let's just have the ****ing referendum and be done with it.

But if it doesn't pass, can the Repeal crowd then just STFU?
